1) Message boards : Questions and problems : Using GPU on a Mac (Message 37093)

Hi all,

Please forgive my lack of knowledge in this area, but I'm trying to get BONIC to use my GPU on my Mac.

Of the projects I'm running, only Einstein@Home offers applications for Mac that use the GPU. The project was running fine using just my CPU. Because I have a Mac, I had to install the special CUDA drivers for the Nvidia card. But having just done that, now when fetching tasks, I get the message:

Sat 5 Mar 12:36:01 2011 Einstein@Home Message from server: Your CPU lacks capability for AltiVec apps

Further info:

Have I missed something?

Any ideas - bearing in mind I'm am not technically minded?

Thanks for any help,

While I've been using BOINC for some years, I'm new to account managers.

I was just wondering if there was much difference between GridRepublic or BAM! Is there a preference for one or the other based on things like reliability, functionality, compatibility, etc.

Thanks.
