SETI@Home is down for a scheduled AC maintenance for the server closet. Will be back if things go as planned some time on Tuesday the 15th. They have one web server up for the Main front page with a status message on it all other servers are down.

CPDN is having upload problems for the last 48h and I have seen no posts about it on the CPDN website forums. Anyone know what is going on with them?

Looks like CPDN has run out of upload disk space again. I have uploads backing up on my machine with BOINC saying server is out of disk space.
Wed Oct 17 21:00:32 2012 | climateprediction.net | Started upload of hadam3p_eu_2t3m_1981_1_008219409_0_9.zip
Wed Oct 17 21:00:37 2012 | climateprediction.net | [error] Error reported by file upload server: Server is out of disk space
Wed Oct 17 21:00:37 2012 | climateprediction.net | Temporarily failed upload of hadam3p_eu_2t3m_1981_1_008219409_0_9.zip: transient upload error
Wed Oct 17 21:00:37 2012 | climateprediction.net | Backing off 2 hr 16 min 14 sec on upload of hadam3p_eu_2t3m_1981_1_008219409_0_9.zip

I have seen no post here saying when this will be fixed.

WCG if offline due to a Raid filesystem getting corrupted. Estimated 12-18 hours to repair. They are taking a snapshot of the very large Raid several TB of data before starting repairs. Then they need to repair the FS. Then they need to check that all new work in the system is not corrupted/missing files from when the problem started. Then they will do a slow restart to check the repairs.
All BOINC backend servers ar currently reporting as project down for maintenance and if you can connect you get a Missing HTTP file error.
Official post more in the Boic help forum on WCG posted to panicked users

Apple today dropped an update to Mountain Lion 10.8.1 With a whole lot of bug fixes. Anyone tested BOINC with the new version? I don't expect any but thought I would ask. Also Apple dropped the first public Beta of 10.8.2 today to its beta testers.

From the SETI@home homepage:
Power Outage
Due to a planned day long power outage, which starts early on Wednesday, all servers will be down from the beginning of Tuesday's normal outage until early on Thursday.
14 Aug 2012 | 0:18:44 UTC

I expect this website will also go down as it is in the same building as SETI@Home. I don't know if they will take it down on tuesday like SETI or if it will be down for a shorter period as they don't have project maintenance scheduled for tuesday.

From the CPDN - News and Announcements thread:

One of the upload servers has filled up.
They've started to move the data, but from past experience it will take a couple of days to move several hundred gigabytes over the university network.

In the meantime, either:
Turn off the Network connection, or, if you're running multiple projects,

Suspend all climate models and wait it out. In this case, all zips waiting to upload will continue to try doing so at regular intervals.

Well I'm going to keep crunching since I'm 5 days from being done with my WU and BOINC V7 gets funky with having too much work onboard. I keep a small catch and it only wants one WU at a time/CPU core.

7.0.28 is out. I'm waiting @ 7.0.27 until I see some posts on if it is better. I will probably wait until the first week of June as I will be out of town later in the week. I'm also going to cutting back to summertime crunching levels; one half of my CPU cores and only at night.

Are you the same person as user 'B-Man', who just asked a very similar question over at SETI? Even if not, you might be interested in the reply I wrote there.

Or you might like to read BOINC's Sandbox design document.

Yes I am. I said thank you in that thread and I need to say so here also. Thank you for the time taken to answer my question. I also know I came real close to the line of being rude in the SETI thread so I apologize for that also.
10) Message boards : BOINC client : Why does the Installer for BOINC 7.0.27 require a full computer restart. (Message 44014)

I am getting ready to install BOINC 7.0.27 on my computer and the installer throws a flag that I will need to restart my computer after BOINC is installed. I never remember seeing that flag on any previous installation of BOINC in the 5-6.x versions. Is this new with BOIC 7.0.x?
My System
Mac Mini 2010 version
OSX 10.6.8
8GB of Ram
I aborted the install with that warning and am waiting on a post saying if the restart needed is normal. I am wondering what BOINC is fiddling with so deep in the OS that it needs to restart the OS to successfully install? I don't believe any application as a general rule needs to restart the OS. Macs are famous for their drag and drop installs. Apple has made a big push for that to be the case.

A 7.0.27 tag has been created in the tree so an official release is getting nearer ;)

The Windows downloads are already accessible, but not yet Linux or macOSX.

Mac OSX is also up we are still waiting on Linux. (I will be doing the OSX version on Sunday or Monday due to other delays in my life.)

Collatz remains offline. I hope to hear from someone anyone that knows what is going on. I hope everyone is ok on the project.

Unfortunately, the project is down, or rather the network or firewall is down and I won't have physical access to it until Tue or Wed at the earliest.

Don't know about that, I do know my Mac reported computation errors on all the units it is waiting to report. The computer is verifying on other projects. Perhaps it is more than the firewall.

My last WU from the project also ended in a comp error. You maybe onto something.

Collatz has been offline for the past 12 hours or so. For Collatz that is an unusually long outage.

I noticed this also. Hope it is back online soon.

WCG forums seem to have died even though the server move was not supposed to have hit them. I get a basic place holder main page with error messages dotted around it in several locations. I get permission errors when I try the forums. Not hugely surprised by this as they are doing major server moves and upgrades for several more hours.

And now it seams to be down again and Milkyway too

I think the last time Milkyway had a big outage that Travis said that RPI would over the summer shut down non key IT Functions/Server rooms would be shutdown any time daytime temps were expected to top 90F. They say they are not in full session so students are not harmed by facilities being offline. Supposedly RPI gives them something like 1/2 hour notice to shut things down and then they turn the AC and Power off to that room/ Facility. This is supposed to be a cost savings for the University.
