I have two computers I'd like to have run Boinc. The main one right now is running on 2000 pro, with the newest edition of boinc. The one I'd like to add is running on xp home, with the slighty older version of boinc. I'd like to take the second computer and have it run under the same account as my first computer. How do I do that?

I'm trying to run boinc on an old 98se comp I have laying around along with the others I have, but for some reason it won't accept my host name and password. I want it to run rosetta at home and connect with my account username "derekpod" but for some reason it won't.

First off, what password are they talking about? I've got an account key from rosetta, but never a password.

Wow, didn't realize a 3700 would run that fast. I'm running an AMD 3000+ 64bit 939 and it takes me a little over a hour to complete a unit. So I guess it is the processor after all.

I have one computer currently running boinc (rosetta). I want to add boinc to my other computer so I downloaded boinc. I installed boinc and the boinc manager came up. To my suprise it had my old Seti@home user ID. It was processing units and doing just fine. But I wanted to run it under my new account. So then I went to file, select computer, and then inseted my host name (e-mail???) and my password. Clicked ok, and my old account went away, but now my new one wasn't showing, and I was getting a "not connected to host" in the bottom right. What could be the reason for this?

I currently run an AMD 3000+ 64bit socket 939, with the standard heatsink. Since I run Boinc around 18hrs a day, 7 days a week, would it be worth it for me to upgrade to a better heat sink?

Derek,

We need just a bit more info from you - Could you please tell us what OS, what flavor of install (single user, shared, service), and did you use the default installer option re "Start Boinc at logon"?


OS: Windows 2000 pro, single user, with start boinc at login.
