Thanks, that was exactly the information I needed.
BOINC 6.6.36 is up and running smoothly. :-)

Yes, I already reinstalled BOINC 5.10.45, the last correctly working version.
Of course data should reside in it's own subdirectory, but BOINC 5 didn't do so, and a migration to BOINC 6 should honor that fact, so that after the migration you can continue at the point, where you left off.
But as long as there is no clear description to find, how to do that and which files have to be copied into the new subdirectories, I think I'll stay with the older version.

I just installed BOINC 6.6.36 after previously using Boinc 5. Apparently Boinc 6 installed the project files in a subdirectory "ProgramData" while Boinc 5 installed the projects folders in the BOINC root folder. The result was, that BOINC 6 at first didn't recognize running workunits. I then copied the projects folders and other data files into the ProgramData folder. After that BOINC recognized the workunits but then shut them down issuing errors, that it couldn't find the output files.
When it then downloaded new workunits from the project sites, those new ones always get shut down with the following errors:

28.06.2009 17:40:46 SETI@home [error] Can't create link file slots/0/setiathome_6.03_windows_intelx86.exe
28.06.2009 17:41:04 climateprediction.net [error] Can't create link file slots/0/hadam3p_6.06_windows_intelx86.exe
etc.

I already tried to set up the access permissions for the slot and other folders, but that still doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Matthias
