I have tried using Science United and I went back to BOINC fairly quickly as I found that I do like to select my own projects and configure BOINC Manager the way I like/ I also use BOINC Tasks to manage multiple Machines and can select different projects based on my parameters that suit that machine.

If BOINC and BOINC Manager were to disappear I personally would no longer participate if Science United were the only option.

No I updated a while ago when the version came out. I can see on Citizen Science grid that there are 7 work units in progres but in BOINC when I click the button the display stays the same, on both, in it only shows the Active work units not the ones waiting.

I have re installed today but still the same.

Since I upgraded to this version the "show Active Tasks" / "Show All Tasks" shows only the active tasks.

I have VirtualBox Version 5.1.15r113242(Qt5.6.2) installed

@ Trog Dog thanks for the reply. I had a look and I do not have enough knowledge of Linux to rebuild rpm's so I will just have to stay on version 6.10.58.
Thanks again.

I installed thhis version of Linux on my new PC and downloaded the new 64 bit version 5.10.8.

I can only get the command line version of BOINC running. When I try and run boincmgr I get this error.

giles@cascade:~/BOINC$ sudo ./boincmgr
Password:
sudo: unable to execute ./boincmgr: No such file or directory
giles@cascade:~/BOINC$

It is there as when I do an ls it comes up.

giles@cascade:~/BOINC$ ls
account_abcathome.com.xml job_log_abcathome.com.txt
all_projects_list.xml locale
binstall.sh lockfile
boinc master_abcathome.com.xml
boinc_cmd projects
boincmgr run_client
boincmgr.16x16.png run_manager
boincmgr.32x32.png sched_reply_abcathome.com.xml
boincmgr.8x8.png sched_request_abcathome.com.xml
ca-bundle.crt slots
client_state_prev.xml statistics_abcathome.com.xml
client_state.xml stderrdae.txt
global_prefs.xml stdoutdae.txt
gui_rpc_auth.cfg time_stats_log

I get the same problem if I try and run run_manager.

giles@cascade:~/BOINC$ sudo ./run_manager
exec: 1: ./boincmgr: not found
giles@cascade:~/BOINC$

In the command line it downloaded 181 work units of ABC at Home but I can't see and option for no more work in the command line ???

Any help with these problems would be appreciated

for the past few days 11/15/06 the BONIC Manager can not fine the local host. all processing stops. running 5.4.11. on 24/7. running 4 or more projects round robin. only way to get working again is to exit and re-start. any idea why this is happing. any one else have the same issue?

I have a PC where the manager cannot connect to the client. I know the problem is memory related. It is an old celeron 1.7 XP Home and it just runs out of memory, it has. I tried everything till I put another stick of memory into it and it connected immediately. While it was low I couldn't do much at all even a net time command would error with not enough resources

How much memory has the PC got and do you have the WU's kept in memory when suspended ??

Hi

Since Seti has not uploaded WU's for a while now, but still downloading slowly, I have one of my PC's that has over 50 WU's at 100% waiting to upload. When BOINC has been sitting in the taskbar unused for a day or so and then it is double clicked it takes about a minute to appear on the screen.

Just a comment as it does eventually come up, but it does seem to be taking longer as the number of WU's grows.
