How can I recover my account authenticator from my Macintoch OS machine and reconnect the Windows 7 box to the project?
(Message 82779)
Posted 8 Nov 2017 by Michael Sprague Post: So, finally remembered about how my computers hide certain files from me, and took steps to remedy that. Now I have the files in hand. Perhaps one day soon I will be able to attach projects, when I have time. That might be nice. Thanks for all your help and patience. mvs |

Posted 8 Nov 2017 by Michael Sprague Post: Thanks again for all the help. Where would I find the Event Log? I know just enough UNIX to do some real damage, not, apparently, enough to figure this out. |

Posted 7 Nov 2017 by Michael Sprague Post: Yes, that is the information found at the page referenced in my initial post. Where is it? As I believe I made clear, I probably don't have a copy of the required information anywhere on the Windows 7 machine. So, how would that do me any good, if I were able to find "the file.?" Also, thank you very much for your response. |

Posted 7 Nov 2017 by Michael Sprague Post: I am trying to perform a new install of BOINC manager (done) and reconnect to some projects, but don't remember the password from my pacbell.net email account, and when I search for the <account> <master etc.s </account> information, I have not had any success in the Windows or Windows.old directories. On the Mac I am running version 7.6.33 of BOINC and MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 Searching for help via the Windows machine landed me at the 'get_passwd.php' page on the setiathome.berkeley.edu site, which tells me to find an entry that begins "<account> <master_url>http://setiathome" and includes a randomized looking authenticator. The location is supposed to exist in the Event Log, but I have not found it in the Event Log on the Windows machine that was from the previous install of Windows. It may be that I have been trying to reinvigorate my BOINC account through a couple Windows reinstalls, so the Windows machine may not have the info I need. The Macintosh should have it somewhere. Where do I look? |

How can I add Setiathome to my BOINC on PC wihout my password?
(Message 70930)
Posted 18 Jul 2016 by Michael Sprague Post: I run BOINC on two machines. I'd like to add Setiathome to my PC, but I no longer have access to my old email address, and I cannot recall the password. I am currently running Setiathome on my Mac, and Asteroidsathome on both machines. Both machines use the fuzzy2k account. Where would I find the information I need to be able to change the email that a password reset token gets sent to? Also, how do I use that info? Thanks. |
