I put them on LAN and it more or less works (after reattaching 2 again to boinctasks).
Now even the one on WLAN(wifi) only works fine.

Whatever the reason was... thanks.

Not found the reason. Again back to the lightning after half an hour not looking at it.

Hello!

I have problems with using BOINCtasks to control win 10 computers.
It works fine with Linux.
The Win computers did have contact once with BOINCtasks - I still have them in the "Computer" list. I had to click on OK in the Win10 Firewall for that.
But after restarting the BOINCstats computer it shows only the lightning bolt icon.

I did the ususal thing - remote_hosts with IP and gui_rpc_auth with the PW in programdata/boinc.

I am totally new to Win10 so maybe I miss something.

edit: I tried the toolbox from eFMer.
As long as the program is open on the remote computer, BOINCstats can find it, but the box to add the computer is greyed out and I cant check it.
If I deactivate the toolbox the remote computer cannot longer be found.

Thanks Richard, nice summary.

The more I think about this and the more I read the more I think only an ex post average-comparative credit system will work (for projects that don't have a definite length).
(only coincidantally that is nearly what Gridcoin does)

That means we start with a BOINC-wide "standard number" of (just for show) 1 point per hour on an i5-6500 @3,5Ghz and projects (in alpha) test their available computers to that result.
This allows to make a table with a few processors and their efficiency for this project.

Then in closed beta you send out the same WUs to computers having those CPUs (GPUs) and to new processors (set to standard) to get their relative efficiency until you have a table with (nearly) all processors.

Now you have a quite accurate comparision table and can reward based on that numbers.
From time to time (or rolling average) you control those numbers.

Why Exclusive only German gridcoin

And people from backgrounds gridcoin would like to be changed BOINC credit system....oops when this discussion takes place in style, shut up and write only about a this topic thread. like here
-I suggest you first find out what Gridcoin is before talking about it. And then came back to topic - how to make a fair credit system.- -- LennStar registred from 8 may 2016 ...)))

https://pigrid.com/ this is really scary-(

so gridcoin received in recent days by someone big money...
and begins manufacturing hardware devices that primarily will be riding on the Berkeley BOINC and volunteer for production crypto curency.. and "science"
gridcoin be completely *ape/destroys everything what we BOINC volunteer for years created.teams for exemple. and boinc future will be the buckle on money and not "rocket science".

Oh, you got banned so had to create a socketpuppet?
Even if I am repeating myself - learn what gridcoin is (thats why I write this for all).
For example it is not German. I guess the main programmer is from US.
PiGird is I think students from Germany - but they have nothing to do with the Gridcoin network infrastructure at all. They just thought it is cool that BOINC work can paid.
I dont know why you find it bad that other hardware can now perform BOINC work, too.

Gridcoin getting money is something only existing in your brain. If not I want some of that too, please transfer it to me, thanks.

And regarding your ad hominem: Yes, my Forum account is new - I thought I had one from years back, but maybe they get deleted after inactivity. If you want to discredit me as a Noob because the account is new - bad for you. I am both BOINC and Gridcoin user practically since they started (and invested/donated several thousand € in hardware and energy in that time). In both cases because I think its a great idea. Rewarding volunteer work that is already done with an non-wasteful cryptocurrency.
Yes, I think that is something that no other coin has. That is the reason why I joined.
btw. is Gridcoin only the third coin I know of "sitting" on top of BOINC. Difference is - it works for every project.

Sorry for the repeated disgression, I just hope it clears some things about Gridcoin.

1. Team Gridcoin is paying people to do a job.
2. The members are crunching boinc projects for profit.
3. That puts every single member under contractor status
3. and should by law be required to fill out a 1099 before doing a thing.
4. Team Gridcoin is illegal that it's a non-profit organization hiring people and recruiting from other teams

1. no. People are doing something and it happens that a third party is giving them a few digits for it if they want.
2. Maybe, maybe not. You dont know. atm its not possible to do a profit except you dont have to pay for energy.
3. as I said US laws dont interest the majority.
4. Gridcoin is not an org, neither for profit or not and it is not hiring. Gridcoin programmer itself does not know any user that does not pop up in the forums, and even there only a name, not even if the name is part of the network.

I suggest you first find out what Gridcoin is before talking about it. And then came back to topic - how to make a fair credit system.

As things were explained to me, the IRS really isn't interested in Boinc itself or the projects. They want to know if taxes are being paid. They want IP addys. If someone is using company equipment to turn a personal profit by earning a taxable currency, they really don't care. What they want to know is if the companies are bothering to claim it on their businesses taxes. If not, they are going to get a hefty fine. Chances are, someone's gonna get fired if they are lucky. If not, they are looking at jail time for fraud, theft, and tax evasion. They have a copy of gridcoin's white list and will be digging up everyone's IP who is connected with the white list. The projects themselves can expect a visit from the taxman just to get the info they seek. As for me, I could care less if someone makes a profit or not. I just expect a cash reward for turning this in. Teams like gridcoin shouldn't exist. They ruin the fun for everyone.

1) Why should anyone from taxes ask anything from the projects? They have nothing to do with Gridcoin.
Gridcoin pulls it data from the projects - like e.g. Boincstats. Everyone else can do that too - faster then asking something.
And because Gridcoin (network) is pulling, the projects also dont know the IPs, just to mention it. Also IP does not mean you know who it is.

2) I dont think US (you are referring to them, right?) Tax authorities have any say in projects not in the US, which are btw. the majority.

3) Also I cant see how Gridcoin can "ruin the fun". Your BOINC does not work in any other way because Gridcoin exist. If you think Team Gridcoin should not be in any point competition - ok, maybe. Just ignore that team then. That is up to the one hosting the competition.
The only reason for your behavior here I can see is your fear of losing teammembers.
That is understandable but - here we are at topic - current BOINC system does not safely allow to have Gridcoin run without team requirement (and it would produce too much stress on the project servers if Gridcoin network would ask all data from every user on every project).
If that is changed the team requirement would surely be lifted.

Gridcoin has brought many people to BOINC and long-time BOINCers (like me) have increased their output in the hope of getting at least part of the energy costs paid (or in the future even make a profit, who knows?).

If you are interested in advancing BOINC, please provide useful feedback, if you just want to steam please GTFO.

-------------

From time to time, I noticed a sudden jump in credit that in reality does not seem justifiable from a user that had a static average credit. ...
I would suggest that the current option to hide your host be removed

Actually that very easy. And easy to explain. I too have 10-fold difference in the last year.
That suggestion seems to be good, it is not really a privacy matter but can help identify cheaters.
People who mentioned problems please briefly explain it.

I do not like the notion of measuring HDD usage, RAM etc.
1) it adds complexity
2) can all be gamed
3) is not really important as long as you dont use BOINC as a peer-to-peer storage system. (Whihc would be a nice form for a different (commercial) Gridcoin use, but not for science itself)
4) is very hard to predict on mid-term range and long-term. Do you want to give more credits for expensive and fast SSDs then conventional HHDs for example? What about CPUs? With optimisation I could get my APU computer down from 112W to less then 80W (or roughly 25%) - for just 12% less speed.

What is important is the work done. WCGs measurement in core hours just means it gives you more badges for running 2 Rasperrys then one intel i5 for doing 1/10 of the work.
So time alone is not a good measurement.
The only possibility I can see is a mandatory benchmark (can be as short as 10 seconds) every hour or so as a basis for calculations.

-.--
btw: Is there a list which projects run more on FPU and which more on integer, since someone mentioned that? I have been wondering for years now - since I got an AMD module APU.
