Has anyone thought about using NAS servers?
I have a Synology DS209 NAS and this thread got me thinking.

What the Hay? ... just reinstalled BOINC 6.6.31 and it installed a service. There was no option presented ... just did it!

Thanks all.

<EDIT>
The problem was running underprivileged accounts option.

The verbage doesn't mention running as a Service but that is what it does.
I reinstalled unchecked the box and am now back in the CUDA business

Thanks.

@Ageless ... see below:
@Fred ... I have passed the point of no return with Win7. I will NOT go back to VISTA. Win7 is what Vista should have been.

<EDIT>
Tthrottle and SpeedFan both find the card

Multi boot VISTA/Win7

CUDA found with VISTA not found with Win7

Is this the correct place to ask Win7 questions?
If not where?
If so ... any ideas?

My bad!
TThrottle works fine.

I just copied the BOINC folder from my Vista partition to my Win7 part.

I went back and installed it and now TThrottle works.

Your comment about the registry clued me.

Install sets up the reg entry.
but boinc/seti ran OK without the reg.

strange

Win7 RC1 64 bit
Tthrottle V1.57
Using F8 ... driver loaded
Running 2 copies of minirosetta_1.67_windows_x86_64.exe.

No BOINC detection!
Number of matching Programs (Processes): 0

Added minirosetta_1.67_windows_x86_64.exe to the program list.

TThrottle shows 1 of them (pid 2520) but not the other (pid 2286)

Number of matching Programs (Processes): 1
Cpu: minirosetta_1.67_windows_x86_64.exe, PID: 2520, Threads: 4

However ... both seem to be controlled. Process Lasso shows both CPU %s are changed.

Has anyone been able to run Tthrottle under Win7 RC1 with anything other than the F8 method of driver signing?

If so, please let me know what you did.

Thanks

The statistics graph doesn't show work done ... just credit.

What measurement unit do you suggest using?

I don't really know.
I have been trying different tweaks but I have no way to measure changes in throughput.

"If you can't measure it you can't manage it."

Ideas anyone?

Some people consider the credits to be a measure of the througput. It works not too pretty bad. See how credits are calculated.

This can take hours or days to show up. I really want to see whats happening in realtime.

I would like to see some sort of 'speedometer' so I can see how fast BOINC is running.
The statistics graph doesn't show work done ... just credit.

I have no way to 'tune' things and measure changes in performance.

<which AV and or FW or Antispam scanner you run>
I am running Ad-Aware (free version) and Avast (free version).

<exclude the Data_Dir structure>
I have changed Avast to ignore C:\Program Files\BOINC and C:\ProgramData\BOINC.

Does the scanner change the file?
I don't know enough to understand what's going on here.

Thats what was going on.

I'll kill boinc next time.

Changed this AM to the latest beta (1.4.8) version.

I stopped using Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider 1.2 yesterday because of failure to stay in test status.
I went back to ReadyDriverPlus and it is still working.
I see no real difference except it now shows milkyway.cs.rpi.edu_milkyway in the BOINC list.

Fred: ... do want a current log?

Thanks again
