1) Message boards : API : Is Visual Studio 2008 Express used for DEV Environment?
Message 22294 Posted 4 Jan 2009 by ![]() |
Is the preferred Microsoft SDK for VS2005EE the .NET 3.0 framework? And for VS2008EE the .NET3.5 framework? Are there any calls in BOINC to the .NET 3.5 framework? Or is the .NET framework even used at all? I have VC++ w/SP1 installed and am installing the MS SDK now. The .NET 3.0 has the VS2005 c++ compiler but the .NET 3.5 has the VS2008 c++ compiler. Not sure if there are any major differences between the compilers but if the boinc dev environment is using VS2005 I will install the .NET 3.0 framework unless someone posts otherwise. Usually the later release is backward compatible, but not always for every function or method. |

Hi All, This is my first post. I'm getting the development environment setup to look at the source code. I am using Windows Vista. Is VS 2005 Express the preferred tool for editing/compiling the source code or does it matter? I've searched but didn't see anything related to this topic. Thanks, Robert |
