1) Message boards : Questions and problems : Set Temp Folder?
Message 49471 Posted 1 Jun 2013 by war59312 |
Hi, I am using a "1GB RAM Disk" for TMP and TEMP system environment variables. Sure I am not alone. Problem is, BONIC loves filling it up and it runs out of disk space.. Any way to tell BONIC to write it's files someone else? Thanks, Will |

Basically anyone on this list: http://www.nvidia.com/object/gpus_supporting_adobeflash.html Just to give you an idea: 12/18/2010 5:28:15 PM | | NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 470 (driver version 26099, CUDA version 3020, compute capability 2.0, 1248MB, 726 GFLOPS peak) |

Well it's like that in version 6.12.8 too. I prefer the old way too. At least allow advanced users to set back via command line option or config file? Please? |
4) Message boards : BOINC Manager : Please Remember Window Information Between Sessions
Message 36140 Posted 18 Dec 2010 by war59312 |
Hi, Can you please make the Boinc Manager remember it's window information between sessions? That is: 1.) Size of Window 2.) Location of Window on Screen 3.) If Window is maximized or Not I like to keep Bonic's window at a certain location on a certain monitor. Annoying that it resets every time on launch. Thanks, Will |
5) Message boards : BOINC Manager : Request: SETI@home Updating Needs Fixing - Stop Updating When Servers Known To Be Offline
Message 34028 Posted 2 Aug 2010 by war59312 |
And how do you expect BOINC to know that servers are down and when they are back up without probing them? if you don't want to see those retry messages, set up alternate allowed to connect to internet preferences. They are available in the Advanced preferences menu. Um easy. Simply assume in the programming the servers are down during those times specified so don't bother making any connections during that time period. Pretty simple if you ask me. Like you said you can already do it yourself using the overrides in advanced so why not simply include default values when the user adds the SETI@home project? That being said those settings would only need to apply to the SETI@home project. I see no way to apply these networks settings to only 1 project. Am I blind? |

Right but it should not. Each installer should remember it's own path. |

Message 33892 Posted 21 Jul 2010 by war59312 |
Hi, Please see: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/ Notice the latest news about SETI@home servers. That is no updating can take place between Tuesdays starting at 4am Pacific time until 4am Friday. At least that's how I read it and seems to be true. So Boinc should not even try to communicate with SETI@home servers during this time period. I really sick of seeing this in bonic and it's a waste of bandwidth: 7/21/2010 4:42:13 PM SETI@home Started upload of 29my10aa.13242.12202.11.10.128_1_0 So bottom line is, Boinc should know the servers are down and not even bother during the downtime. Thanks, Will |

This is getting old really quick!!3/18/2010 1:48:14 PM SETI@home Message from server: (Project has no jobs available) Been 3 days and still can not get any jobs on any computer. Resetting project is of no help. Close to giving up on SETI and staying 100% with Docking. |

Still down. Same error:3/4/2010 9:57:22 PM SETI@home Resetting project Update: Updated to Bonic Manager version 6.10.36 and reset seti and now its working fine. :) Finally! I had tried this with 6.10.35 and not luck. So either something related to seti was fixed in .36 or servers finally just now came back online. |

17) Message boards : BOINC Manager : exclusive_app Config File Option Not Working
Message 27625 Posted 27 Sep 2009 by war59312 |
Hi, exclusive_app as found on: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Client_configuration Does not seem to work. I saved cc_config.xml to %ProgramFiles%\BOINC as: <cc_config> <options> <exclusive_app>ioUrbanTerror.exe</exclusive_app> <exclusive_app>mpc-hc.exe</exclusive_app> <exclusive_app>GrabIt.exe</exclusive_app> <exclusive_app>ImgBurn.exe</exclusive_app> <exclusive_app>Nero.exe</exclusive_app> <exclusive_app>CloneDVD2.exe</exclusive_app> <exclusive_app>wmplayer.exe</exclusive_app> </options> </cc_config> And yet Bonic Manager never suspends when the above applications run. Even tried simply with notepad. Thanks for the help, Will Update: O.K that guide needs to be more clear. Should tell user to place file at %ProgramData%\BOINC for Windows Vista and Windows 7. Then it works fine. :) Guide should also mention that you know if config file is taking effect when you see this line in the log: Reading preferences override file |

Hey, Yeah I meant 6.43. Sorry. And no I had to reinstall Windows a few days before so this was a new install and was fine for a few days. That why the internet connection fraction is so off, because not a long time period. I have wireless, using http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=531 adapter with http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=530 router. I have cable (broadband, 16mbps/2mbps) so yes an always on connection. I did have some odd disconnection issues because of wireless card's driver but that is fixed. Not a single disconnect in days. And even when it did disconnect it was for seconds so not like it could not connect at all. And yes still happening, I'm just wanting to know which steps I should take before I simply delete all results.. Wondering if that is best action to take? But no more red error messages in log file since 12/30/2008 8:46:22 PM, not it just keeps printing over and over: 1/2/2009 8:00:36 PM|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request: To report completed tasks. Requesting 0 seconds of work, reporting 12 completed tasks Every five seconds though so I have disabled it (closed manger and suspend boinc.exe process via process explorer) for now since it is slowing down PC a bit. Causes lag in games if I let it run. Normal tasks such as browsing not effected. Still crunching away during the night just fine though.. Thanks again, Will |
