I've been a user of Boinc for a few years and try to let it use my machine for anything I can help with, while I'm not using it. I have had the issue for years but am just getting round to asking for help with it. Some of the projects I've connected with do not get any tasks but when I check the websites for the projects I don't see them as down and can see that others are still working, I think. (not sure if the above will show or not as it does not in the preview). Denis@Home, Milkyway@Home have no tasks at all, Enigma and Rosetta have had some tasks but then stopped. I've currently got about 20 tasks loaded for Moo !Wrapper, some yoyo and Seti and these are processing so the app and accounts are working. As I said I've had this issue for a while. I previously used Bam stats account manager and was using a different email address but still had this issue so closed the BAM account and changed the name and email address on each of the projects. I've 'reset' the preferences on each of the projects accounts where allowed. Not sure what else to do. Boring stuff Boinc manager 7.14.2 (x64) Windows 10 Home 8GB 64bit operating system, but this is current, as I have changed machines and had the issue on the previous one as well so am thinking it's account related on the projects. I'm using the Local preferences on Boinc, so what is set in the individual project's online preferences should not matter!? If anyone can suggest a way to look into this with me then I'd appreciate it, it would just help me help the projects more. Thanks in advance. Dean |

Thanks for all the help. It's still not 100% resolved but this is where I'm at:- Uninstalled everything. Left a couple of days and all was working fine. Reinstalled Boinc (not using the VM). Removed all the projects. Left a couple of days and all was working fine(Boinc telling me I had no attached projects, but I knew this and it was good to see it confirmed). Re-attached the Seti@home project (And reset the default settings on the website), but still have it using the local settings set on my machine. This has now been working for about a week, one project, screen saver and no issues.... I'll leave it a few more days and then attach another project, one at a time and slowly to see if any one project gives issues or just the number of projects running. Will update again later Dean |

Hi, Sorry for the delay in replying, been giving it a while anyway still troubled. I have taken Ageless's statement a bit further and have uninsalled both VM and Boinc and re-booted, then re-installed Boinc on it's own and then removed the Cosmology project. And still have issue. I have looked at Taskmanager a few times but not seen anything that stood out as being wrong but am not really sure what I'd be looking for. I do know that there are to processes for Boinc and then I think there should be one for each of the running tasks? Currently Boinc Client is running at 0.2-0.5% CPU and the System tray icon is at 0% and I can see 4 processes that I think are the apps and each appear to be 0% CPU, waiting for the user activity to end! I'm struggling to type this as I'm having to go back and correct it all the time and trying to type slower than I normally would. 09/03/2016 12:22:36 | | Starting BOINC client version 7.6.22 for windows_x86_64 09/03/2016 12:22:36 | | log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 09/03/2016 12:22:36 | | Libraries: libcurl/7.45.0 OpenSSL/1.0.2d zlib/1.2.8 09/03/2016 12:22:36 | | Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC 09/03/2016 12:22:36 | | Running under account Dean 09/03/2016 12:23:32 | | CAL: ATI GPU 0: AMD Radeon HD 6200/6300/7200/7300 series (Wrestler) (CAL version 1.4.1848, 384MB, 351MB available, 167 GFLOPS peak) 09/03/2016 12:23:32 | | OpenCL: AMD/ATI GPU 0: AMD Radeon HD 6200/6300/7200/7300 series (Wrestler) (driver version 1800.11 (VM), device version OpenCL 1.2 AMD-APP (1800.11), 384MB, 351MB available, 167 GFLOPS peak) 09/03/2016 12:23:32 | | OpenCL CPU: AMD E2-1800 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics (OpenCL driver vendor: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., driver version 1800.11 (sse2), device version OpenCL 1.2 AMD-APP (1800.11)) 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | | Host name: Dean-HP 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | | Processor: 2 AuthenticAMD AMD E2-1800 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics [Family 20 Model 2 Stepping 0] 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | | Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush mmx fxsr sse sse2 htt pni ssse3 cx16 popcnt syscall nx lm svm sse4a ibs skinit wdt page1gb rdtscp 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | | OS: Microsoft Windows 10: Core x64 Edition, (10.00.10586.00) 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | | Memory: 7.60 GB physical, 15.35 GB virtual 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | | Disk: 908.81 GB total, 599.23 GB free 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | | Local time is UTC +0 hours 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | Asteroids@home | URL http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/; Computer ID 189906; resource share 100 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | climateprediction.net | URL http://climateprediction.net/; Computer ID 1365322; resource share 100 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | DistributedDataMining | URL http://www.distributeddatamining.org/DistributedDataMining/; Computer ID 17117; resource share 100 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | Einstein@Home | URL http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/; Computer ID 11921228; resource share 100 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | Leiden Classical | URL http://boinc.gorlaeus.net/; Computer ID 130960; resource share 100 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | LHC@home 1.0 | URL http://lhcathomeclassic.cern.ch/sixtrack/; Computer ID 10364611; resource share 100 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | malariacontrol.net | URL http://www.malariacontrol.net/; Computer ID 1538696; resource share 100 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | Quake-Catcher Network | URL http://qcn.caltech.edu/sensor/; Computer ID 50064; resource share 100 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | rosetta@home | URL http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/; Computer ID 2307537; resource share 100 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | SETI@home | URL http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID 7592888; resource share 100 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | SZTAKI Desktop Grid | URL http://szdg.lpds.sztaki.hu/szdg/; Computer ID 361353; resource share 100 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | Universe@Home | URL http://universeathome.pl/universe/; Computer ID 5071; resource share 100 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | vdwnumbers.org: Van Der Waerden Numbers | URL http://www.vdwnumbers.org/; Computer ID 1242; resource share 100 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | World Community Grid | URL http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/; Computer ID 3484362; resource share 100 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | SZTAKI Desktop Grid | General prefs: from SZTAKI Desktop Grid (last modified 24-Feb-2016 17:22:03) 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | SZTAKI Desktop Grid | Host location: none 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | SZTAKI Desktop Grid | General prefs: using your defaults 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | | Reading preferences override file 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | | Preferences: 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | | max memory usage when active: 77.78MB 09/03/2016 12:23:33 | | max memory usage when idle: 7389.35MB 09/03/2016 12:23:35 | | max disk usage: 40.00GB 09/03/2016 12:23:35 | | max CPUs used: 1 09/03/2016 12:23:35 | | don't compute while active 09/03/2016 12:23:35 | | don't use GPU while active 09/03/2016 12:23:35 | | (to change preferences, visit a project web site or select Preferences in the Manager) 09/03/2016 12:23:37 | | Suspending computation - computer is in use 09/03/2016 12:23:37 | | Suspending network activity - computer is in use 09/03/2016 12:28:46 | | Resuming network activity 09/03/2016 12:45:58 | | Suspending computation - computer is in use 09/03/2016 12:45:58 | | Suspending network activity - computer is in use Another dump from Boinc as it's not long been re-started. Hi, Nope still doing the same. I'm currently running Malwarebytes but don't expect it to find/cure anything as I've run it a few times before. Ive also run HiJackthis and don't see anything that I can't explain. Question about VirtualBox, how do I know Boinc is running in a virtual machine? Would it be better if I re-installed Boinc as a service? Can you suggest anything else to look at? Dean |

Hi, It is usually set "Run Based on Preferences" for all three settings but I had turned it to "Run Always" for testing and had not switched it back. Anyway, yes set all to "Run based on Preferences" again. Seti@Home is the only task that is using GPU. I'll leave like this for tonight and look again tomorrow. I have also altered my machines screen saver settings so as to not turn the monitor off (set it back to default). Dean |

Hi, I have the latest boinc, 7.6.22, with the Oracle VM virtual box installed. I have uninstalled and re-installed boinc numerous times and even taken a break for a few months in between installs. I have boinc set to suspend while the computer is in use. After a few hours of processing and no human intervention, over night lets say I'll try and wake the computer which it does but I find I'm not able to type as I would normally I have to press each key for about half a second then go onto the next one. I'm not a speed typist and don't even use the home keys (yes I have had some training) but am not a very fast typist. Anyway if I re-boot I'm able to type as I would normally. I have tried uninstalling all other applications and testing but it always comes back to Boinc. Has anyone else experienced this and what can I do to rectify it. I'm currently using Windows 10 Typing is affected in Google Chrome, Explorer, MS Word,Notepad. Online and local applications! I've tried using an account manager and not (currently running local preferences). If anyone can help and wants log files or anything else please let me know as I like having Boinc using my machine for good while I'm not, and want to continue. Thanks in advance Dean |
