My thanks to whomever finally removed Cosmology@Home from the project list page!

They can delist them from the Projects page... Been done before, should be done again here. Especially important as they have a wide open site right now with no updated SSL, so users beware.

This episode of "Better Call Saul" was no good... Dead end. Can BOINC just purge Cosmology@Home until they get their act together since it lacks ANY and ALL accounting at the moment?!

Got an email from the university for Cosmology@Home…

“ We have been getting emails since January regarding this website. I asked the Department of Astronomy faculty about it and was told that we don't run this website. I realize that the U of I Astronomy is listed on the bottom of the page, which is where the confusion is coming from. I also saw that Marius Millea is someone to contact about the website. He is at the Berkeley Center for Cosmological Physics. I have pasted his contact information below.

Sincerely,

Rebecca Bare

Looks like a dead end! He doesn’t reply to emails or died.

Can we PLEASE get Cosmology@Home banned from the Project List page as they REFUSE to help new and old users alike... They are giving the entire BOINC universe a bad name over lazy administrative actions and ego! They haven't replied to any emails, forum posts, etc in well over a year... Time to flush them until they get their ship course corrected!

---Update---

I emailed the university to get eyes on this. Any alums here should ALSO email them your distaste for their neglect of this project!

Yes. REMOVE Cosmology@home from approved/ current BOINC list.

* It has been over 2 years and counting since any project scientist / administrator has been active in the project forums.

* Project website completely failed ALL SECURITY TESTS:
https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=www.cosmologyathome.org

I could post more reasons but these two alone should suffice for removing the project.

Maybe it's time to get rid of BOINC Central, too? SMH!

Their security cert is borked as well, so they aren't even taking in new members. FIX THIS or REMOVE THEM as a project on the page as it's an embarrassment!

You all should also remove Cosmology@Home from the project list since, per their neglect, you cannot add this project at all! Penalize their incompetence!

Time to consider removing Collatz Conjecture from the project list... Been like a year since the Sonntag's disappeared!

I've started to refer to Krembil as Kerbal as at the moment, I see no differences as they went into this entirely unprepared, which means this project might not exist at some point. BOINC showrunners don't seem to be helping them out either based on a conversation I had with a Krembil researcher who voiced her concerns to me about the delay, etc. Would be devastating to lose one of the largest projects from ineptitude!

May his efforts inspire others to continue our various scientific endeavors via BOINC projects, no matter how small they may seem now, for generations to come!

My own research shows that I'd be better served going with a last gen. Ryzen/Intel with last gen. GPU (NVIDIA RTX2000 series, etc) as it would be around the same cost, be upgradeable and expansion ready.

Anybody here tried to run BOINC on a new MacBook Air, Pro or Mac Mini with the M1 CPU/GPU chipset yet? Any output rate or notes you can share? Looking at the Mac Mini M1 model as a low power option for a farm for BOINC work.
