1) Message boards : Questions and problems : What happened to "requested" and "granted" credits? (Message 92525)

Gerasim is still showing claimed and granted columns, here is a work unit...

As far as I know Gerasim is the only project that has no limit on how many times a work unit can keep trying until it succeeds. The one above has failed 134 times and is on its 135 attempt, the vast majority of failures are due to "Invalid. Deadline Exceeded." and it takes 24 hours to do that whilst keeping the CPU thread fully occupied.

I emailed the admins over a month ago about it, they don't have PMs at Gerasim and their forum has been down as mentioned elsewhere, but have received no reply. This isn't the only work unit doing this, there are more.

True enough. The research may be legitimate. But it may have hit on raw nerves in other parts of the government to disclose the technique and data.

That isn't the reason.

The Acoustics server, like some others, had to be shut down abruptly without time for the admins to give notice.
They are expecting to return but as Vitalii said there is no date as to when that will be.

Whether the completed, but long overdue, work will be accepted and credited, assuming you still have it, is also unknown. At least no-one else is getting to process and return it before you.

Open BOINC on the device->Preferences->check "Show Advanced Preferences and Controls->check Max. Battery Temperature and if need be lower that.

Or raise that ?
4) Message boards : Questions and problems : Cannot install boinc (Message 88885)

I think my version was older than 7.12.1 and nothing will install since my old one was deleted by me before the install of the upgrade. I give up, but thanks 4 your help.

You need to find out which version you were running before you tried to update.
You can do that by going to one of the project web sites that you were running work at and look at your computer(s), the details will show you what version it last thought you had.

As I understand it you then need to download that version, not sure if it will let you un-install directly or if you have to install and then un-install (not had the problem myself). Once it has been removed do a re-boot before trying to install a newer version.

Both web sites are up showing blank pages instead of errors and NCI stats have just gone from Free-DC, so progress of sorts !

Edit: Stats haven't completely gone, just dropped by about 666 million for me.

They are pending the next stage which is deletion.
At least whilst pending you can examine the log files for the task.
Previously they didn't stay at pending they used to get deleted straight away, it may revert to that.

No. It is the DHEP project. I asked here because there might be a simple script that they need to run to get the job done, that they already have, but don't know that. They seem a little "new" to this.

Have you read the stickied thread at the top of the Number crunching sub-forum entitled "How DHE@BOINC works - READ THIS FIRST!" ?

Sorry, just noticed the second link above was wrong, <delay_bound> is in

What values have you tried for rsc_fpops_bound and delay_bound ?

This page might (or might not) help understand the process more

I don't know the answer to your last question though.

There is an <ignore_delay_bound> in config.xml (

By default, results are not sent to hosts too slow to complete them within delay bound. If this flag is set, this rule is not enforced.

<delay_bound> in says...

An upper bound on the time (in seconds) between sending a result to a client and receiving a reply. The scheduler won't issue a result if the estimated completion time exceeds this. If the client doesn't respond within this interval, the server 'gives up' on the result and generates a new result, to be assigned to another client. Set this to several times the average execution time of a workunit on a typical PC. If you set it too low, BOINC may not be able to send some results, and the corresponding workunit will be flagged with an error. If you set it too high, there may a corresponding delay in getting results back.

Second talk uploaded - Ivan Reid for LHC

Anyone been able to playback?

I can see them and have listened to the first part of the first one okay.
Didn't quite start at the beginning of his talk as he was mid-flow.

I hadn't seen the 'tasks ready to send' numbers before. There should definitely be a central place where you can see all of them listed together so you don't have to go to each project's website. Then you could see far more quickly who has work and how much of it.
You can always look here for that information:

It doesn't answer your original question though.
Don't forget to post back a link if you do what Les suggests, thanks.

My quick stab...

Changing to use the local BOINC settings defined on this page. BOINC will ignore your web-based preferences, even if you subsequently make changes there. Do you want to proceed?

PS. Richard, don't forget a hidden button that when clicked plays Ta-Da and 5 seconds of onscreen fireworks please.
PPS. Ageless, 'flow' really !
