Not worry, you only could be considered a hopeless alcoholic if you start drink alcohol before the midday.

Hmmmmm, I've been known to enjoy a mimosa or two with brunch.

Neigh.... I come with an update straight from the horse's mouth.

The re-org is still going on. (Yes Eric, we've noticed!!!)

The active data base keeps getting bigger because there are more work units being done... thank you very much, technology.

Eric has some ideas that he will try next week to speed things up, but he cannot guarantee that they will work.

Bartender, a round of mojitos for everyone please. Goodnight, friends!

The only reason you got made a mod was because of the Kenziegate affair.

Bernie was invited to consider accepting a mod-ship at s@h because he is a thoughtful, rational and kind person. Opinions he holds are nuanced. He makes decisions slowly and carefully. He is able to see issues from multiple vantage points and he thinks before he types.

I'm going to the library this afternoon. Any good sci-fi book recommendations?

1. Arthur C. Clarke Childhood's End
2. John Brunner The Traveler In Black
3. Robert Heinlein Stranger In A Strange Land
4. Ursula K. Le Guin - the short story "The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas" in the anthology The Wind's Twelve Quarters: Short Stories
5. Dan Simmons Phases of Gravity

Happy reading!!!

Raccoon eyes, like the eyes of many predators - ourselves included, are more in the front of their faces than to the sides.

Animals that are typically prey animals (such as rabbits) are more likely to have eyes to the sides of their head, so they can see potential predators sneaking up on them.

Can they catch those peanuts in the air with their hands?

No. I generally try to throw the peanuts in front of them.

I demanded to know what had happened to "my stories" and got the following quote from 'Ol Pookers:

"The re-org is taking longer than expected because the result table is bigger than normal, secondary to last week's outages."

I have no idea what any of this means, but you have it straight from the raccoon's mouth.

So, us moderators have talked among each other and come up with a plan, which goes into motion 30 seconds after I post this.
If you do not want to be part of that plan, you'll decide not to take any bait whatsoever ever again.
If you do want to be part of the plan, you can find out what it beholds by continuing as you were.

In the tradition of my Roman peasant ancestors, I'm just stopping by for the bread and circuses.

I wonder what that makes a:
- cowboy
- fireman
- barman
- policeman
- landlord
- headmaster
- foreman

cow hand
firefighter
bartender
police officer
land owner
principal
supervisor

That would be "hat check clerk", if you please.

Some of our hat checking professionals are men, some are women and some are transgender.
All of them bristle at the sexist term "girl".

Anyway, here is my hat...
