I tried that and still no log files. Did what I describe with the dialog box sound correct? I feel like I am doing something wrong but I've followed your instructions to a T.

I tried the above, and the log files were not created, yes I am running from an administrator account. When I set the screensaver a little empty box comes up with an OK button, this box also comes up right before the screensaver starts.

Same problem, same setup as above poster. Switchable graphics on lenovo laptop. I have tried 6.6.20, 6.4.7, 6.2.19, all give the same problem.

It doesn't "freeze" when I resume but it it switches to "BOINC screensaver is shutting down" and then the only way to kill the screensaver is to ctrl-alt-delete and kill the application.

This is on a NEW INSTALL, I have tried both 6.4.7 and 6.2.19 and I get the same issue with both.

It tracks the progress of all your current tasks. When a task is being worked on, the bar is green, when it is not, the bar is red.

It is mostly just for fun for those people that like to see some sort of progress is actually being made by their computer.

Here are some screenshots...

What is the interest in me releasing this to the public? It would just take a little more work, I'd have to rename it (Boinc-Jack isn't the best name :)) and such...

Any questions on how it works? It should recognize all BOINC projects in the official list as of December 08...
29) Message boards : Questions and problems : Screensavers flickering (Message 21685)

Hello,
I am having this problem that my screensavers start flickering after being displayed for a while. I have my GPU overclocked, so at first I thought it was that, so I reduced the clock back to normal, but the flickering continued. Then I quit the overclocking application completely (RivaTuner) and the flickering continued. The only thing that has changed since the flickering started is I updated to the newest WHQL nvidia drivers, but I haven't seen anyone else on the web having this issue with these drivers. I've updated BOINC from 6.2.19 to 6.4.3 and that hasn't fixed it. Does it seem like my only hope is to roll back the gfx drivers?

I can stop it by doing "suspend" under "activity" but when I choose "run based on preferences" it just starts up again =/

What *are* your preferences?

Also, see task manager; is boinctray.exe running?

My preferences were not to use while computer is in use, use after 1 minute of inactivity, and also set to "run based on preferences".

I went back to 5.x so I can't check that boinctray was running, but I did have the tray icon, so I assume that it was. You can see now someone else having the same problem as me in another post.

same problem here. I've tried everything in the other thread I posted and still no luck. After a fresh install it honors my preferences, but after I restart its always running again.

I restarted my computer and now its running 100% of time again. I can't find either of the posted items listed as running services or as services in the "startup" menu.

I liked this update for the fact that I could actually see the screensaver, but it looks like its back to 5.x for me.

No, it's not! Even when installed to run as a service, BOINC still observerves your preferences. There must have been something other gone wrong. Please check your preferences (local and server side; the local ones override the server preferences) and your activity setting. It should be BOINC Manager->Activity->Run based on preferences.

Gundolf

Thats probably why it still did it when I reinstalled the first time. I uninstalled using add/remove programs this time and reinstalled and now its behaving the way I want it to.

However, I've uninstalled and reinstalled and its still doing it. I've looked under services and can't seem to find the service to stop it. Any suggestions?
