I got it to work if i give boinc a lohin shell, su to boinc and run startx.
But thats not really a permanent solution.
Just starting X via xdm for example wont help.

I wan the other computers on that project to use the cpu, only one computer should only use gpu
Additionally there is no such option in for example milkyway at home.
How do i conf that in the client?

I also installed X there and launched xdm, so X should be running now.
Boinc can not find ane useable gpu, according to event viewer

I am running debian 7, with boinc 7.2.47, catalyst 12-6+point-3

and have a Radeon HD 6350
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Cedar [Radeon HD 5000/6000/7350/8350 Series]

Tried it on another server with a radeon hd 6350, no WUs either.
Is it possible that one does not get gpu WUs if X is not running?
Catalyst drivers are loaded.

Your host isn't even detecting a CAL GPU, but your host does detect OpenCL support for the CPU, since AMD/ATI also deprecated CAL support for older GPUs, it could be that you have a too recent driver/APP runtime installed,
it could also mean that that Boinc can't access the GPU, try reading through the Debian/Ubuntu/Mint/Derivatives - GPU recognition fixes thread.






Seems i have to run X to be able to access the gpu?

I seem to have version 12.6 ob the driver.
The cheatsheet speaks of XP? What does that mean?

I apologize for the lack of information given.

OS: 64bit Debian wheezy.
boinc version is boinc 7.2.47+dfsg-3~bpo70+1 from wheezy-backports
projects which support amd are: seti@home, mikyway@home, einstein@home, wolrdcommunitygrid
None of them is giving me gpu WUs

Event log tells me form startup:
Don 24 Jul 2014 21:08:21 CEST | | OpenCL CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz (OpenCL driver vendor: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., driver version 2.0 (sse2), device version OpenCL 1.2 AMD-APP (938.2))

So is mine too old, or did i mess up anything else?
How can i check weather my gpu supports OpenCL?

my gpu should support it being Radeon HD 2400 XT?
