*sidle in with a pie* would this make a difference...? It was going to be cake because there was a cake. But then there was not a cake. @Tuesday: I completely missed its happening. It would have been nice not to, and to be around for the mystery ending but perhaps another time I won't be. And now that I've run out of things to say - I'll |

Hell hath frozen over. That explains it then. I noticed it was a bit chilly today. And as we'll be having a bank holiday here on Monday, it makes even more sense. |

Oooh ... that sounds frustrating. I hope you've found a way round that. My son's laptop has lost its mouse-pad thingy - and then it's keyboard too :/ Fortunately he's been able to plug in a spare keyboard and a mouse, to get some functionality back, but that's all his usb ports taken up - which isn't exactly ideal either. |

I could have been back sooner if I hadn't sat down on the way home. I don't normally get the metropolitan line from Euston square because it means two tube train changes instead of one. I managed the first change fine. That's the point I sat down which must have then quickly been followed by me falling asleep and waking up somewhere between Upminster Bridge and the last stop in that direction... which is Upminster, people. So quite a long way from where I wanted to be, but I'm home now :) I think *start apportioning blame* it's because the registrar popped out to give me a preliminary thumbs-up verdict (which will hopefully be confirmed tomorrow once my consultant - he's on holiday in Switzerland I think - get's time to look over his email) and it made almost all the stress that's been stopping me sleeping, go away. Just like that! :) So - yay - I think :) and thank you for the good luck wishes, Dave. It may very well have made a difference, and is greatly appreciated! *look round thread* That bugle trumpet thing worked I see. Good one :) |

Hello, people :) I have just been told a slot has come up to have quite probably my scariest scan to date, which I've been waiting for, for a couple of weeks now, and to get going now to have it done. So I might be quite a lot missing this afternoon. It's just on a finger to start with, and where I hope it ends it too. So have fun everyone :) I'll catch up later. |

I hope he's back soon, Jord to help. @Mike You can post in technical threads with zero RAC.I um... am not well-versed in those but I have a few days to think of something... ;) |

We're dropping like flies. I think I'm next. This Tuesday outrage coming - it's my nose against an outside surface glaring in... at the survivors. You might want to extend your holiday, just in case... ;) |

I'm going to post this here because it's about elephants, but it's not sad (other than, of course - the elephants in it got to be there through being orphaned as a result of poachers) but it made me do a big awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww :) herd runs to greet new arrival |

Well, today must be national let's call Gordon and annoy him day, because I've had like 9 dumb calls.Hmmmmm... if it was just that they wanted to annoy you, you'd think they could work it out for themselves that after about 3 or 4 - they would already have. |

I actually have a call on my answering machine from this afternoon that says "Windows Security has been breached" and Microsoft will be shutting down my computer if I don't call them back.Do you have a system in America where you can hide your number when calling out? And do you have some time to spare, a shrill whistle and/or some lovely loud clashy things to bash together when they pick up your call? And then do you feel like - keeping them on the line so they're unable to clear the connection. I did that once with a repeat offender a few years ago. It felt good... but otherwise... don't ring them at all. They don't like that either because they can't steal all your passwords and clean out your bank account. edit: or perhaps a little favour from Gary...? ;) |

I am a bit surprised that no one has asked for it before. Thanks for the input. There was a thread back in 2014 http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=9194 which didn't get very far. |

How can I specify for BOINC to finish a work unit without switching to another? There's probably a better way than what I'm about to suggest, but on local preferences on the computer tab, you could try setting the time next to "switch between tasks every ... minutes" to something like 1600 (I think the default is 60)? Maybe? |

So I just had my speakers blaring at me that my computer had a serious virus infection and would be disabled by Microsoft because it was threatening their systems worldwide ... which briefly got me really quite interested in how little me could do that, and even then ponder on whether I should just let it happen instead of contacting them immediately with my details so it didn't. Except I wasn't born yesterday so I executed it on the spot. I could have done without leaping out of my skin initially though. but it did at least highlight the fact that the volume needed turning down a bit. edit... so... you know ... *disease-ridden stare at culprits* thanks. |

Ah... but they do. My ISP's helpdesk called me yesterday, on Sunday.I expect they missed you. BT missed me once and rang me too. But when they did that for a customer satisfaction survey, afterwards. I got told they wouldn't be asking me again. Which I think meant they stopped missing me rather completely. |
