Don't ever expect a programmer to write coherent English...
Oh.

Okay ;)

There's one instruction leaflet that I'm hoping is amongst the things I'm storing for my daughter. It surpassed by miles the one (I hope I still have somewhere) on how to apply an apron to your wife and the clean happiness it would bring to her in your home *snort* :)

what was here has gone :/

Has anyone read "Wounded Leaders: How Their Damaged Past Affects Your Future" by Allan Bonner? Well I want to.

Suspect it might be like reading "In Retrospect"
That looks depressingly good too.

I might find myself reading that one first. The other is on kindle, and well... I'm not, and the paperback version is a price that I can't really justify spending on myself, so most probably won't.

It was recommended to me - nothing to do with politics - because I'm trying to fathom how the breakdown of a relationship between two very dear family members of mine, may have already been set in stone before I could even walk, which means I'm now completely off topic and so...will shut up :)

*slow blink at screaming technical authors everywhere* I don't know what they're all shouting about. I'm their biggest fan. Nothing gets out of its packaging until I've got its accompanying religious text clasped in my hand and at least partially absorbed. Anything that enters the house that requires a manual gets treated with the same level of respect I'd give to a bomb that needs defusing. I'm a lone voice in the wilderness of family though. Engrossed in the sermon within its pages - I read out things like "okay, we need to locate an output thingy" only to be drowned out by the darn thing already having been set up and turned on.

The problem on this occasion was how we came to need to acquire it at quite short notice some three years ago, on a very limited budget and only wanting something really quite modest on a take-it-home-straight-away-without-a-car basis and they'd run out of everything that ticked all those boxes, but... had a former shop display one which was a bit bigger and more expensive but that could be discounted and just, at a pinch, be afforded. We were warned at the time that there might not be a box or manual for it, but that the manual would be online. So we took it and were pleased with what we had done, me especially, when it emerged, from the recesses of the box they did find, a manual.

I say "a manual" for good reason.

Y-e-e-e-e-s... I did, helpfully, return that to the store out of consideration, but also in the hope that the right one might be around, but it was not to be. And then stuff kept happening that had nothing to do with TV's - and the gungho crew had already got everything running smoothly anyway, and I hardly ever watch TV without a support group so...

:)

edited to remove jumbled garbage heap of words that was about here, where you're reading now

No wonder I thought flatscreen-TV's-having-buttons was an urban myth... what's the point of putting them there and not making it even vaguely possible to get at them in an emergency. They must know that by the time you're resorting to buttons, you're already not at your best.

Still :) I've found them. YAY!

Thanks, Jord

It's back
Oh yes :) So it is...

When forums are so stressful, why go there then?
Because I couldn't find the remote control for the TV

When I drifted into politics it had been to post something about that tower block fire in London last week, but instead, I found myself reading about MK

:((

which made me completely forget to. Much later, when I couldn't sleep and everyone else around me could, I thought I'd try again, but first, did something I never meant to... *roll eyes into someone's drink and let them bob there* I opened a thread I think I'd posted to once upon a year ago or more, and, well... *drop head into plate of food*

completely forgot to again...

Byron-Charles it's you!!!!!! :) I'm so glad you popped by! I knew there was something I'd forgotten to say in a post I made earlier at seti, and that was that it was so lovely to see you again :)

it just made me edgy and want out of there
Yes... at a speed not yet invented by the universe. I know ;/

Been a bit dumb though as last week I threw out some protective foam that I could've used to clamp the Android devices into. Oh well.
*gape in awe* that's really quite bright, Jord... knowing that you'd been that dumb I mean. My own experience of these sort of situations begins with me looking for it and then, when the entire house has been upended and it's nowhere to be found, wondering when I'd thrown it away.

I had a three-month zone you see. It was where all the if-I've-not-found-a-use-for-this-fascinatingly-versatile-stuff-that-has-so-much-potential-for-usefulness-I-can't-even-begin-to-think-of-the-ways-but-if-I-still-can't-then...then-I'll-throw-it-away.

It worked for ages until it didn't and the avalanches started. And the mass binnings.

Anyway...I hope you're all having a nice weekend :)

I've not been paying that much attention, so I can't say really. I was too busy finding an exhilarating activity for us all in case it was a long outage except it wasn't. I did find one - but a link to a cow and a calf and an electrified fence distracted me into losing it and I'm not even sure I could find the one of the cow now. It's not been the only mishap this evening either.

Onwards to Wednesday then...

Oooh! Thank you for the comfy chair! :)

*sit down on reserved sign* I'm supposed to be at a meditation group/class now - on how to. I've been to three and I can't. They've each turned into 90 minutes of a different kind of ghastly. During the second one - I somehow managed to reduce myself to consisting of a right knee and the opposite foot and nothing else ... apart from a near-pathological loathing of the voice that we were supposed to be listening to as our guide. For the last one I was at, I made an enormous success of choking suddenly and very thoroughly on fresh air and disrupt the whole group.

So I'm here instead.

Talking about my halo, it does look a little dull. How about a quick spit&shine? :)
... I'm not exactly well-renowned for my aim ... more notorious really... but if you insist...

Oh.

*pat Jord's back apologetically*

@ Gary Apparently, our Prime Minister is struggling to justify how he got given a knighthood.

In the meantime:

The Church of England has made last-ditch efforts to engage with sexual abuse survivors before a report of how it recorded cases of abuse is published.

The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby said the Church's failures were "deeply shaming".

No. One size fits all!
... but are they meant to make such a racket...? ;)

@paul: Hello :) I'm not sure if we've chatted before, but that piece of news passed me by :( So thank you for linking to it.

Still on the subject of gorilla's, with my attention span currently set at non-existent, a search for learning sign language last night caused me to read this instead:

Koko - the gorilla who communicated with sign language (and loved cats amongst other creatures - like humans for example) died yesterday, aged 46. The read, to be honest, gloomed me out a bit :( so don't read it if you're prone to glooming but she apparently understood around 2,000 words of verbal English, and could "talk" back too!! :)

“Her impact has been profound and what she has taught us about the emotional capacity of gorillas and their cognitive abilities will continue to shape the world,” the Gorilla Foundation said.

There seems to be a spot of bother at Collatz (News: https://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz//forum_thread.php?id=1576 that was initially raised in their number crunching forum but is being looked into. Hopefully the bottom of it will be got to soon.
