January definitely needs more public holidays I think. And so does Wednesdays.

Who do we get to arrange that...?

I'm supposed to be peeling potatoes... but okay :)

(and I will also add my thanks to Jord too, for his post. I can't do the social media thing, but I will definitely be sending Fred a card :)

There's also that special date/day 02-10, where I turn 50. It's not a date that I want to celebrate in The Netherlands, but rather be with some friends on a beach in sunny Cornwall.
You'll want to research the um... birthday customs then... Here. They can be a bit... odd sometimes. Particularly the first time they're performed on you, when they can most easily lead to misunderstandings. Yes...

There was one quote from last week that was particularly memorable I thought. About Theresa May.

Made by Nicola Sturgeon.

'... the only leader in living memory that tried to fall on her own sword and missed'

Of course she was also the only one of the party responsible for this, who didn't leg it to a distant horizon somewhere... preferably with a beach... after their "good idea" to win an election, but as a round-up of recent events, it really was rather excellent.

Just in case anyone's interested, this year's Earth hour is this Saturday, March 30th. It starts 8.30pm your local time if you are :)

What it is

I will again this year, attempt to persuade my other half to forego an hour of whatever sporting delicacy he might be watching, so that we can sit in the dark... but when I mentioned it to him just now, he kind of developed a bit of a sort of... far-far, faraway look in his eyes.

So I'm not confident I've convinced him. Well not yet anyway, but as they've seen fit to steal an hour from mother's day on Sunday to re-enact the pretence of British summertime starting - I'm going to offer to trade him the whole day, for an hour of absolutely nothing except my voice in the dark... *beam* :)

Thank you Annie for the laughs and cries
You're welcome, Jord :) It was lovely to chat to you. I'm so sorry we didn't get to meet up though.

I would like to add my echo to Byron's thank you's too, :) to both Richard and Rob, for looking after you. Thank you!

I must say, I have enjoyed reading of your travels here and there. It would have been nice to feature in them, obviously ;) but there'll be a next time. We will need to be a bit more deliberated to sort out a group meet-up though. I've had the good fortune of coming across Richard a few times :) *fix eyes on Rob* but not Rob... yet :) Dave's advice on deities would be very good to get in person, too :) and I'm sure there are others out there it would be lovely to meet as well if we can coax them out of the shadows ;)

Funny Brits.
*slow blink* We're at about the most hilarious I've seen us since I've been here, Jord.

I hope my bladder can cope....
...

You're not the only one I expect... But don't we do dark comic farce so well...?! :)

I've safely returned
...

...

Any mystery aches or pains at all...? ;)

Awwww... I do like group hugs :) and love you all too, very much but it's just as well you're not next door though. You'd get completely sogged by my eyes, saying lovely things like that at me :)

xooxooooxoooooooox

I suppose I should try to get this thread back on topic really :/

I've not put much effort into that though.

I could tell you about a gravely endangered mouse if you like? It would tide us over in the meantime.

It's in my house.

I've no idea what route it took to come in, but what it's done is cause my other half to declare all our cats "completely and utterly useless". He had just watched them leap as one, up onto the dining room table to avoid it scurrying across the floor so I can't fault him on that, but I'm rather pleased they did. It's only teeny and utterly terrified. And there's plenty of room outside for it if I can persuade it to re-relocate there. The last time I saw it though, it was entering my son's bedroom. He was a bit put out when I opened his door to inform him of it, because he immediately assumed that it was in there because I'd just opened the door to let it in there. I think I've convinced him that wasn't the order of events though

Oh, people. I've turned into such a mess. Reading these messages though, has been like finding a safe warm place in a storm :) Thank you so much for your condolences and kind thoughts, and the hugs and prayers too :) They make such a difference. I've been struggling for nearly two days to find the words to say that, and still they don't convey how much I appreciate them, and all of you too.

Thank you :)

My mum died on Wednesday. It's off-topic I know, but I can't think of anywhere else to put it where it also wouldn't be off topic, because she wasn't famous or important - just much-loved by a handful of people. Rest in peace, Mum :) it's a luxury life never afforded you. I miss you.

I don't think the old deities are vegan, although you can try.
Clearly not!
*contemplate the wreckage sadly* maybe sweet potatoes would have been better...?

Next time we'll do a double, Ann.

I didn't have the best of weekends, people, to be
honest. It caused me to have... well...visions .....

Yes.

My mother-in-law informed me Saturday that she was
"coming to stay over" because her roof had leaked
teensily in one of her two spare bedrooms.

It had been fixed but the man who was supposed to
come and redecorate the entire room (not just two
square inches of barely marred paintwork) hadn't
showed up, so she'd suddenly decided she "couldn't
bear to look at it anymore".

So why do so then?

It's not like she had to because, to have to,
she'd have to first go considerably out of her way
to find a single reason to even be in there, let
alone linger. I mean, there's no furniture in it,
nothing. Just a vacuum cleaner... and my house is
full of things much worse to look at than that and
she didn't flee from here. And she seemed to have
no problems at all with keeping up a snide running
survey and commentary on mine.

So yesterday morning was even less fun, because
not only was I trying to establish at what stage
my brother-in-law was at (in his 3 week itinerary
of Ethiopia, Kenya, Israel and if he was okay) but
I was being treated to a long moan about why none
of our local pubs are open at 11am.

I have just finished walking her into a tube train.
Yes :) and now have an appointment to get myself
ready for, so I will catch up here later instead.

I've been trying to toast standard-sized pink or white marshmallow more than four times and I don't think it's possible. I'm not even sure four is.

There's a goat, in a field near Rawdon if I
remember correctly that can only be
deterred into not butting your feet out from
under you if you're carrying a large green
umbrella and yell... Eddie, NO! at him. I expect
Richard might not have told you about him...
no... still! Rawdon is miles away and there's bound
to be some kind of barrier he can't get
through... yeeees...

I hadn't realised it was so long since I last popped in, nor quite how much had been happening (or perhaps, hadn't been).

Oh my. Poor seti :( Still, it's nice to see everyone here :)

from this:
I see Seti has a new wall-of-text-writer to give Annie a lesson in how it's done. :-)
Well I've clearly arrived at the right time then because I see nothing for me to worry about ;) not yet anyway...

There is a difference, Annie is stream of consciousness walls, the other seems to have been edited to increase length walls.
...edited to increase length...? *round eyes* what an excellent idea! We've never properly done that, have we anniet? No we haven't anniet... not yet anyway...

I suppose in the circumstances, people might need some suggestions on how to keep themselves occupied... let me see, this might be fun ...? ;)
