What work are you running with those GPUs? Which project? There might be a possibility to tweak app_config so that every GPU tasks would use smaller fraction of a core than what the default setting in that application is.

I'm fine with dropping back a BOINC version and testing to be sure. So, questions:
1. Where can I find an install package for the previous BOINC release?
2. Are there any problems with installing the older package over a newer?

Here is the page where also one previous version can be seen:
https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/download_all.php

But other versions are "there" also. Them can be downloaded by changing the version numbers on the link. There is now https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_7.12.1_windows_x86_64.exe available, but if you remember running for example Boinc version 7.12.0 ... just change the link to https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_7.12.0_windows_x86_64.exe and proceed with that.

I don't know if this method would be the best, but I always create a new Boinc Program folder for a new Boinc version. This has worked well for me.

I leave the old folder there (name of the old one could be for example "Boinc_7.12.1"). Name for the new folder could be "Boinc_7.14.1".
Then I would start the Boinc installer and choose 'Advanced...' (or was it 'Custom') and I would choose that new folder to be the Boinc Program folder.

After installing process has finished I would run the boincmgr.exe from that new folder. Then if everything seems to be running well I could safely delete the old Boinc Program folder ("Boinc_7.12.1" in this example).

I'm not sure if the Store Apps can be located this way, but here's my 5 cents after searching a bit:

"Just open PowerShell with Administrator privileges, the type the below command and press enter

Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Select Name, InstallLocation
"

Then use mouse left button to "paint over" the InstallLocation path of an app that you were looking for and copy that chosen text with CTRL + C

Open File Explorer and put cursor to the address box or whatever it is called... and paste there. Then hit enter.

You should now see the contents of that hidden app folder. Look for 'application' type files. Maybe there's the executable file of that app that you want to exclude. If there is an executable that looks promising then you could try feeding Boinc 'exclusive applications' with that same path of that app folder.

I can't exactly remember what that looks like, but if it shows its own list of programs then there could be a chance.

Yes, it is. Something about that has been mentioned here:

There's been some website changes under the hood, which in turn broke those links.

Did you start Boinc installer 'run as administrator' ?

If you will try a reinstall I would do it this way:
1. uninstall Boinc
2. use a free registry cleaner to 'clean registry' (download a free version from something like Eusing Free Registry Cleaner or CCleaner).
3. reboot computer
4. disable Malwarebytes
5. run Boinc installer as administrator
6. use something to disable Boinc starting while Windows bootup (for example any of the previously mentioned registry cleaners)
7. reboot computer
8. disable Malwarebytes
9. try to start Boinc

If Boinc will start then you could try:
10. exit Boinc completely and enable Malwarebytes and start Boinc again

Looks like that package includes both "AMDGPU All-Open" and "AMDGPU-Pro Driver".
User can choose which one to install. "Pro Driver" should be good for RX 560.

I'm not sure if the 'pal' or 'legacy' OpenCL option is the right one for RX 560, but instructions say it's possible to install even both:

./amdgpu-pro-install -y --opencl=legacy,pal

Can you give me particulars of when and where this new package was released - which distros have access to it? I'll update the sticky warning message I put in Questions and problems yesterday.

It was available via ppa:costamagnagianfranco/boinc .
https://launchpad.net/~costamagnagianfranco/+archive/ubuntu/boinc

Timestamp on the version name is 201805012009 ... so at the moment it was released about 15 hours ago.

Packages:
7.10.1+dfsg-0~201805012009~ubuntu18.04.1
7.10.1+dfsg-0~201805012009~ubuntu17.10.1
7.10.1+dfsg-0~201805012009~ubuntu16.04.1

My computers are running Linux Mint 18.3 and they use the 16.04.1 variant. At least that one is working. I don't know about the 17.10.1 or 18.04.1.

These packages are for Debian distros. Adding that untrusted PPA is required of course ... and "sudo apt-get update".[/url]

There is a new BOINC version available now (still 7.10.1 ... but it's a new one). It fixed this problem. Client is able to run and Manager is able to connect to it.

Sorry... I didn't check on that carefully enough (I was super-tired, going to bed back then). Client actually wasn't running at all. It fails to start at boot-up and also fails to start anytime later.

I looked at the syslog and I see exactly the same error messages as JGREAVES.

Here is the procedure:
Client failed to start while boot-up.
Then, I run command: "sudo systemctl --no-pager stop boinc-client.service" ... just to make sure.
Then... I run command: "sudo systemctl --no-pager start boinc-client.service"
... and that does produce this:

... Started Berkeley Open Infrastructure Networking Computer Client ...
... boinc-client.service: Failed at step CHDIR spawning /usr/bin/boinc: No such file or directory
... boinc-client.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=200/CHDIR
... boinc-client.service: Failed at step CHDIR spawning /usr/bin/boinccmd: No such file or directory
... boinc-client.service: Control process exited, code=exited status=200
... boinc-client.service: Failed at step CHDIR spawning /bin/rm: No such file or directory
... boinc-client.service: Control process exited, code=exited status=200
... boinc-client.service: Unit entered failed state
... boinc-client.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'.

My host is running Linux Mint 18.3 and it was working fine with Boinc 7.9.3.

After upgrading it to latest development release (from https://launchpad.net/~costamagnagianfranco/+archive/ubuntu/boinc ) Boinc Manager can't connect to localhost.

I don't know what's wrong. I didn't change anything else. I've tried to stop and restart Boinc Client before I start Boinc Manager, but that doesn't help.

nvidia-390 will suggest you to install also these, if I remember correct:

libcuda1-390
nvidia-opencl-icd-390

"390" can be something else. I'm not sure if those are required, byt they won't do any harm. I have always installed those three packages.

It can be used to limit max temp for GPU.
