This is the BOINC error message I keep getting:
"World Community Grid: Notice from BOINC
This project seems to have changed its URL. When convenient, remove the project, then add http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/
27-Apr-23 9:05:02 AM"

I get that same error message in several other BOINC projects, over and over.

There are NO differences seen in any of the BOINC project URLs.

Yet, I keep getting these error messages in several BOINC projects.

The BOINC error messages do not stop the processing or interfere with any operations.

I am very relieved to learn that PAUL at the World Community Grid says to ignore that notice, as it was sent out by mistake.

World Community Grid is currently moving its projects into the cloud.

Greetings:

I just received a BOINC notice to change a URL for a project I'm not running (so far as I know), and which apparently doesn't exist.

I thought it might be another project I could support, so I entered the new URL, and BOINC said that is not a valid URL.

Since there is currently a global Internet threat of ransomware, I'm wondering if that's what this is?

The URL is:

http://WCG_MASTER_URL_WCG/

The project is called:

World Community GridWCG_ENVIRONMENT_ADDED_WCG

Thank you.

I have just discovered an alternative to constantly having to sign out and reboot my system every time I want to have text and images on my computer screen be large enough for me to see and work with.

After all, I'm an old man, with failing eyesight and hearing, and difficulty using my hands and fingers.

I use Mozilla Firefox as my default web browser, and one of the options is being able to enlarge the screen.

By doing so, I don't have to sign out or reboot in order to enjoy watching the Einstein@Home screensaver.

Problem solved.

Thank you.

When I click on SIGN OUT, my computer reboots.

My screen resolution is different from yours, for my computer screen completely and properly fills my wide screen television set, with no black bars on either side.

Thank you.

What I'm changing is the Display slide which controls the size of text, apps, and other items, as I switch back and forth between 100% and 175%.

To observe the various screensavers, I must set the slide at 100%.

For improved visibility when doing anything else on the computer, I must set the slide at 175%.

Whenever that slide is changed, a reboot is required.

I know about the BOINC screensaver, and it poses no problem, regardless of screen resolution.

But, I enjoy watching the SETI screensaver, the Einstein screensaver (my favorite - - - it is the most beautiful of all of the screensavers), and the current World Community Grid screensaver, which is Mapping Cancer Markers.

At the moment, it's really the Einstein screensaver that won't fit into the screen when it's set at 175%.

The Einstein screensaver only fits into the screen when it's set at 100%.

Since I run several different projects, all of this stuff changes from time to time, depending on which screensaver is showing, or whether the particular project even has a screensaver, which quite a few of them don't.

Thank you.

Greetings:

My computer is a brand new Hewlett Packard 15.6" HD touch display notebook (just purchased from Wal-Mart), using Windows 10, connected by HDMI cable to my VIZIO Series D 32" HD wide screen television (a surprise Christmas gift), and using a Microsoft Wireless 850 keyboard and mouse (purchased this past Christmas).

I'm connected to the Internet via a wi-fi modem supplied by STRATA, which I think is atrociously slow, but as far as I'm aware, no alternative is available.

My BOINC projects are, SETI@Home, Einstein@Home, LHC@Home, POGS, Citizen Science Grid, World Community Grid, and WUProp@Home.

I am a member of Team SETI.USA

Although screensavers are no longer necessary, I enjoy watching mine whenever I'm not watching television.

I just wish the BOINC clients would format their screensavers (and/or create them where none exists) so that they would automatically resize to accommodate different screen resolutions.

Currently, when I want to observe my screensavers, I must change my display settings to 1366 X 768, which makes all of the fonts and icons very tiny, but does allow the BOINC screensavers to fit completely onto the screen.

Then, if I want to do anything with my computer, in order to improve visibility, I must reset the screen resolution to 1920 X 1080, which then requires a reboot.

Returning to the screensaver, I must reset the screen resolution to 1366 X 768, requiring another reboot.

Maybe the technical or management personnel at BOINC could inform the BOINC clients, and suggest they fix the problem, and of course, for BOINC clients which don't include a screensaver, suggest that they might create one.

Thank you.

I meant multiple TASKS at the same time, which until now, I'd never seen done before, probably because my old computer wasn't capable of doing that.

Anyway, I followed your instructions, and I think the problem has been resolved.

Thank you.

I know how to set the screensaver.

My point is that, in past versions of BOINC, only one program would run at a time.

But, with this current version of BOINC, multiple programs run at the same time, and I suspect that is the reason no screensaver is visible, as MAYBE the screensavers are cancelling each other out?

Or, is it my computer, which is also newer than what I used in the past?

I apologize for the upper case fonts, and will refrain from repeating that mistake in future posts.

Thank you.

Greetings:

I'm running Windows 8.1 on a Toshiba "Satellite" C-75D-B laptop computer, with a AMD A8-6410 APU with AMD Radeon R5 graphics 2.00 GHz processor, with 8 GB RAM (6.96 GB usable), 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor, using BOINC version 7.4.36

My BOINC projects include SETI, World Community Grid, SZTAKI, Milky Way, Rosetta, LHC, Einstein, and POEM.

I wondered why no BOINC project screensaver was visible?

So, I looked at the BOINC Manager Tasks, and was surprised to see that more than one project is running at the same time (in fact, several projects, all at one time!), which I'm guessing is probably interfering with and cancelling out each other's screensaver.

In searching the BOINC Manager dashboard, I could find no way to change the settings to correct that problem - - - , indeed, IF it even is a problem.

I don't really need the screensaver, but sometimes, I enjoy looking at it.

Other than that minor anomaly, BOINC version 7.4.36 appears to be functioning quite normally.

Thank you.

My BOINC projects include SETI, World Community Grid, SZTAKI, Milky Way, Rosetta, LHC, Einstein, and POEM.

On April Fool's Day, Wednesday 01 April 2015, I downloaded and installed the latest version of BOINC, 7.4.42 Windows x86 64 Virtual Box.

It would not connect to the Internet, although I couldn't figure that out until this morning, Saturday 04 April 2015.

So, I did a system restoration to April Fool's Day, Wednesday 01 April 2015, and then downloaded and installed the updated version of BOINC, 7.4.36, which comes WITHOUT Virtual Box, and after installation, my BOINC program immediately connected to the Internet.

PROBLEM SOLVED ! ! !

Thank you.

I'm running BOINC version 5.10.45.

No, I didn't do anything to change my screensaver settings, one way or the other.

The screensaver was working just fine, and then, only a few days ago, it quit working.

Well, to be more accurate in my description, the BOINC screensaver was working, but it had no graphics.

This evening, without anything being done, the graphics reappeared.

So, I have no idea what happened, or why it's back to normal.

I'm just glad everything is okay again.

Thank you.

It's only "spam" if it's unsolicited.

Keeping subscribers informed doesn't fall into that category.

Yes, I update my computer constantly, and yes, I do know the difference between BOINC graphics and the screensaver.

Yes, I do use Windows screensavers when the BOINC screensaver doesn't work, and specifically, I find the aquarium screensaver to be my favorite.

When selected, the BOINC graphic IS the screensaver, or at least, it was, up until a few days ago.

But, something has gone amiss, although I can't figure out what.

The screen has been black.

However, the issue is now moot

I just checked the BOINC screensaver and the BOINC graphic, and they're both working fine, just the way they're supposed to.

What caused it to quit working?

What made it start working again?

Durned if I know!

Thank you.

Greetings:

My BOINC screensaver has also disappeared.

I'm running four (04) projects. S.E.T.I., World Community Grid, Climate Prediction, and SHA-1 Collision Search.

The screensaver graphics have vanished on every project.

When I click on "Show graphics", all I get is a black screen.

When the BOINC screensaver is activated, I see the BOINC logo as it begins, but then the screen is black.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling BOINC, both the old version and the new version.

Has BOINC been hacked?

Is someone sending our computers a malicious virus?

If something's going on at BOINC, then why don't they send e-mails to us users, and alert us to ongoing issues?

Thank you.
