wonderfull! thank you so much!!

i suppose that it's even possible to set the integrated gpu to be used by boinc!

I'll make some test! thanks!

i add at my pc an ATI hd7950. Is there any way to make BOINC use both gpus?

Now it see only my 7950 and not my integrated gpu...is there something i can do?

Thanks!

I am trying to get it to work, have followed the (bad) instructions to the letter, but have found so far that:
a) Rocket science is easier.
b) BOINC setup without any documentation is easier.
c) The GUI Miner is missing no matter what you try.
d) The writer of the 'documentation' doesn't know how to use 'its'.
e) It runs on a full core, and sometimes even more. Not a problem for me at this time, as I only run Seti & Einstein on my GPU, and that only when I feel like it.
f) I wonder if it even works with these two projects. The Wallet speaks of Malariacontrol.net, RNA World, Rosetta@Home, Docking@Home and Milkyway@Home.
g) Funny, clicking on any of the projects in the Wallet opens up Internet Explorer, which goes to the web site. We ignore the default setting of Pale Moon then, ey?

I'll leave it running for a bit here. Am waiting for a phone call anyway.

Edit: Don't leave it running in the background while gaming. It'll interfere severely with load times and cause graphical lag.

uhm...are you talking about gridcoin? if so, and you have some question, i will glady help :D

P.S: i'm sorry but i didn't find multiquote option.. :(

The new AMD APUs and other SOCs are certainly more economical than a dedicated GPU, from a consumer standpoint, which is why I assume they're showing up in a lot of low-end devices. As I'm not terribly familiar with their construction, does using the GPU provide any slowdown to the CPU (or vice-versa) or are you simply making a comparison between the APU's GPU performance versus a dedicated GPU?

I don't have one myself, but one of my team members does. However, it doesn't get much crunching done because most of the time it is used on battery.

I will add a stand alone video card (ati hd7950), but i however want to use my APU's GPU.

I just wanted to know how powerfull was it... :)

Anyways, can you ask your teammate how much crunching he can do with apu's gpu in 24 hours?

more slow than the cpu itself?

Actually, yes. The CPU has as a quad core, 4 OpenCL compute units. The APU has only got 2.

As a comparison, my Radeon HD7870 GPU has 20 OpenCL compute units. The GTX660 that Rebirther points out will have between 15 and 21, depending on which version one has.

uhm... i see. :(

so, more or less, is about 50% slower than the cpu...

i've always knew that gpu>>>cpu with boinc...

i think, even it's half than cpu, it's better than nothing, isn'it?

You can test it with a GPU project. But its better to use a GTX660 or a comparable card.

is wcg a GPU project? anyways, i'll test it when i'll buy it...in few days..

Perhaps you already can ...

No, you get paid in Gridcoins, not in BOINC credit. So the BOINC credit is still without value. Very slow webpage at that 'project', and I use quotes around the word, as the isn't exactly much information on that site. Unless you want to spend hours to read through all the PDF files.

more boinc credit you do, more gridcoin you have.
I think we can say that boinc credit have a value...

Hi everyone,
i'm going to buy an APU (AMD A8-6600K). This cpu have an GPU within (HD 8570D).

Can i use BOINC with CPU and his GPU both? I know that the GPU doesn't have much power, but what do you think about? is it a good idea?

Thx, and sorry for my bad english!

yes, i mean gridcoin too :)

i used the word "almost" because then, i have to exchange grc with btc, and there isn't an exchange yet so is not so easy.

P.S: it's so bad that gridcoin doesn't support WCG :(

thx for the reply.

uhm...really i can almost exchange it with bitcoins...:D

anyways, i suppose that rosetta@home it's one that pay very little...

I everyone,
i use boinc since 2009, but i always run wcg project. Average i make 800/900 points per day.

Some days ago, i decided to switch to rosetta@home, but i see that i made 250/300
points per day.

So, i'm asking: why this differnce? did i made some mistakes?

thanks and sorry for my bad english
