(Message 36397) Posted 11 Jan 2011 by Ben O'Brien Post: I just saw a task from seti beta that was 284 hours and it had about 22 days left to complete the project in. So I thought, well this might not finish if more projects keep on coming in so I stopped all projects from getting new tasks. Then I realized that if I could choose to have work units that might not make it to the finish line prioritized as time left before deadline and time remaining became closer then I would feel more calm. So I make this request primarily for those who like me worry that a long work project won't be done in time. Thank you for your time.

2) Message boards : BOINC Manager : installing and connecting problems (Message 33974) Posted 28 Jul 2010 by Ben O'Brien Post: This isn't any paticualar server I'm trying to access (that I know the name of) it's just boinc trying to access localhost. I can't get far enough to connect it to any project. Also I'm running windows 7 64 bit and boinc 6.10.58 64 bit. Also I already cleaned up that "mess windows caused", what I'm saying is if the problem is going to be happening in a predictable way in an amount of cases then why don't you save us the trouble of going and sorting out the problem because I assure you that many people are coming up to that error and not bothering trying to fix it.

3) Message boards : BOINC Manager : installing and connecting problems (Message 33940) Posted 24 Jul 2010 by Ben O'Brien Post: I have recently reinstalled boinc and now it wont connect to the server and thus is just sitting there doing nothing. Also it doesn't start up with windows but that might be because asus thought it would be a good idea to play hide and seek with the boot files. I have recently faced the boinc.msi problem on multiple computers, wouldn't it be easier to just put the core function of the fix into the installer.

4) Message boards : Web interfaces : lack of consistancy (Message 33939) Posted 24 Jul 2010 by Ben O'Brien Post: I just got onto the message board through google and tried to post something but couldn't find either a new post button or log in which thus I immediately that this board was obviously private or something. Luckily I knew better and went to the home screen to log in then made my way back here.

5) Message boards : Questions and problems : can't install on win7 (Message 33482) Posted 22 Jun 2010 by Ben O'Brien Post: It turns out that I hadn't read enough of the instructions for the Windows Install Clean Up tool and thought that just installing it was all that was needed to be done and before that it didn't say that it was compatible with windows 7. Turns out I is compatible and I had to run it from the start menu. PS it isn't CleanUp its Clean Up. I was looking for a program with one word for that.

7) Message boards : Questions and problems : can't install on win7 (Message 33452) Posted 19 Jun 2010 by Ben O'Brien Post: I have recently uninstantiated boinc a month ago or so and then when I tried to reinstall it there was an error message saying I couldn't find the boinc msi. Could somebody please tell me how to fix this. I tried the cleanup tool but that is not for windows 7. I tried the install then uninstall an old version but the old version didn't work. (these options described in the help link on the boinc main page.

8) Message boards : Questions and problems : annoying beep (Message 17455) Posted 23 May 2008 by Ben O'Brien Post: when the message that says that there is no internet connectivity comes up a particularly annoying beep happens too, although not in a drive you insane way it is annoying and it does happen a lot when i bring use my laptop in an area without wi-fi. could there be an option to disable the error reports or at least the beep when it can't connect to the internet.
