1) Message boards : Questions and problems : Boinc failing with each restart of computer (Message 49477)

Last night while operating as a limited user, I switched users to the Administrator. Boinc loaded OK, I believe. A Bionc Manger Select Computer dialog popped up. For Host Name, I selected "localhost" at which time a long password appeared in the password field. I clicked OK, and it started running.

Switching back to limited user, the Bionc Manager loads, but never runs anything, a mouse-over in the system tray says "Not connected to client." I open Bionc Manager and I click on Select Computer, select localhost, no password shows, and I click OK. After about 10 seconds, a dialog box appears, Bionc Manager - Communication, and says, "Communicating with Bionc Client, Please wait..." then a new dialog pops up and says:

"You currently are not authorized to manage the client. Please contact your administrator to add you to the 'bionc_users' local user group."

This morning, I started up as Administrator. Boinc started normally and Seti started with no input from me. Logged off, switched to limited user, and Bionc still doesn't run.

So, in my case, it appears its a permission issue or??

I'm new to this forum, but have been using Boinc and Seti for awhile.

I was using 7.0.28 with no issues for many months. I completed all work first.

After I downloaded and installed 7.0.64, it started running. After I rebooted, it wouldn't start up; I didn't see the boinc manager at start up.

I reinstalled and saw a "repair" option. I performed that and once again, it started running. After reboot, it again failed to load the boinc manager at start up.

I uninstalled, reboot, then reinstalled, ensuring to use the Advanced option to allow any computer user to run sw. It started running. After reboot, the boinc manager loads, but doesn't connect to a client.

I'm using Windows Vista 32-bit.
