1) Message boards : GPUs : GPU run project Message 91608 Posted 23 May 2019 by Gandalf_the_Grey	Does any one know of a Project that runs on a Linux Mint OS via a AMD Radeon 7700 GPU? If so, are there any special commands needed to make it work? I have a PC that works the same GPU via Windows7 OS, but with Linux I can't make it work. Thanks

Running 0.896 CPUs + 1 NVIDIA GPU. Does the client say it found the app_config.xml file? Have not queried Collatz Conjecture. Decided to ask BOINC first. Is the BOINC version new enough to know about app_config.xml? Version: 7.2.42 (x64) This is the version downloaded by Synaptic Package Manager. Did you put it into right directory? /var/lib/boinc-client/projects/boinc.thesonntags.com_collatz Does the client have permissions to read it? YES

Does anyone have a fix for making it work under LinuxMint? Thanks PS - the WU runs under LinuxMint, it's app_config.xml that does not work. If you need any additional info, I'll be happy to provide it. I am not an expert, so be easy on me, please.
5) Message boards : Questions and problems : BOINC WU on LinuxMint with NVIDIA GPU Message 61107 Posted 20 Mar 2015 by Gandalf_the_Grey	I've decided to stay with Collatz and increase the Minimum work buffer to 10.0 days and the Max additional work buffer to 4.00 days. I'm hoping that when the Collatz crashes again that this setting will provide enough work until the Callatz comes back on line. Time will tell. My 32-bit PC froze and T/S showed a fan on the heat sink had dies. Have left the PC powered down until I can replace the fan.

Click on the little blue start button in the lower left corner. Was able to work around this instruction. I suspect this guide was written for other than LinuxMint. Knock on wood, it will still work. I have them both set to 0.25C + 0.5NV. The GPUs can't handle .25NV, but that is ok. They are working fine at .5NV. With Collatz crashing perodically, I've set both Projects to download. I won't need to mess with this PC again unless it stops crunching.

This is why I am doing this step by step. I have un-installed the boinc-nvidia-cuda and the boinc-app-milkway and rebooted. Do I now click on the Driver Manager bullet button for nvidia-331? Or, do I need to do this commend? sudo apt-get install nvidia-modprobe Thanks

The two GPUs are GeForce GTX285 Updated the system. With Synaptic Package Manager, installed... Boinc Boinc-app-milkway Boinc-nvidia-cuda Driver Manager says... xserver-xorg-video-nouveau GPUs are not seen by Projects. Tried... sudo service boinc-client restart No joy. Event Log says... 17) Message boards : Questions and problems : BOINC WU on LinuxMint with NVIDIA GPU Message 60804 Posted 10 Mar 2015 by Gandalf_the_Grey	Roland - I'm not a Linux Guru like you guys. I currently have an i7 PC running LM - 64 bits. After all the currently downloaded WUs have reported, I will replace the LM 64-bit with the 32-bit LM. While I have tried to follow your above information, most of it was greekish to me. :-) If I try to extract the proper changes from the above instructions, I could mess something up. (could?) More like will. I'd appreciate it, if you could do a brain dead step by step guide, to implement the needed changes to take a new LM 32-bit install with the 32-bit Boinc program installed, to the desired configuration to get the CPU and the GPUs to run WUs. Yea, when it comes to Linux I'm really that dumb. I'll understand, if you don't have the time or if you can't get to it right now. I'll be ready, when/if you are. Thanks again. Gandalf PS - even magic doesn't work with the 64-bit version.
