Ahh, maybe it doesn't show up if only CPUs are being used?

You're right about LHC@home not having GPU apps; I'll join a project that does use it!

EDIT: added Asteroids and it's showing the GPU being used now. I must have just remembered the display incorrectly!

Looks like it:

Edit: I'm only using LHC@Home.

Hmm, it's definitely not showing for me. Probably just a local bug. No big issue.

Yeah, that's what I meant! Sorry for not giving a detailed description for clarity.

Was it removed in the last update or is it a setting somewhere?

Hello world,

I just updated to 7.16.5 (x64) for Windows and I don't see which hardware is being used anymore in Tasks. I looked into the release notes and didn't see anything about it. I tried to add the column, but there's no option.

Was this removed or am I just blind? Sorry if this has been asked before, I googled and searched here with various terms and got nothing. It's not critical either, but it was nice to quickly see if it was BOINC hogging the hardware.

Thx!

Ok, just as a check I copy-pasted the variable name and restarted. I'll keep an eye out for the (cuda_fermi) tasks and their success rate.

I also checked my preferences and saw I had asked for 10+10 days of work--which seemed a little excessive, so I dialed that down a bit :)

Thanks for being patient with all of the beginners' questions!

With that combination, please make sure that you read my thread NVidia driver problems which cause computation errors - once you set the environment variable described (and illustrated) there, you should quickly earn enough credit to achieve posting rights.

Yeah I did set the variable. I'll set my task preference to Astropulse only--or do the other applications use the GPU too? (as of yet, only Astropulse called on the GPU...)

Hey Everyone--I have a related, but opposite, issue: I'm wondering if my GPU is underused.

I'm running v7.0.28 on a 64-bit quad-core Win machine with a GTX650Ti Nvidia card. It's only every now and then that I get a task from SETI that runs on the GPU, and then I see "0.xx cores and 1 Nvidia GPU".

Does that message mean that the task is only using 1 CUDA core? That would be a pity, since I have 768 available. (I know this might be a little Seti-centric, but as I'm a newcomer I can't post in that forum...)

Also, I keep reading about newer Boinc versions (like 7.0.39, -52 ..etc.)--are these for other OSs or is there a newer version for x64 Win7 too?

Thanks in advance!

Ahh I see it now. LHC and climateprediction have no new tasks for Asteroids download so quickly, they're out of the transfers tab before I know it. Which leaves two questions:

1) Why are the transfers from SETI so slow?

2) How come I can't get new tasks from climateprediction? There's no post on the homepage regarding a downtime or project outage...

Right now I'm on SETI@home, climateprediction.net, LHC@home, and Asteroids@home. I'm letting Boinc use 30 GB on an SSD and 75% of the page file. I'm also letting it use 4 GB RAM. I set the min work buffer to 1 day plus 10 days.

My event log is pretty long already, but I saw these startup messages:

3/1/2013 9:18:29 PM | | Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
3/1/2013 9:18:31 PM | | Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.

I guess that might explain it for SETI@home. I also only see the transfers for SETI--I can't see any others. After hearing my cooling rev up I saw Asteroids was running strong.

Why can't I see the transfers for the other projects then?

Hello Everyone,

a long time ago (2004) I used Seti@Home and since I have a new PC, I decided to get back into it. I chose three products and changed the settings so the Boinc could have its way with my 4 CPU and 700-some CUDA cores. And nothing happened!

So I looked at the Boinc manager and saw there was A LOT of downloading to be done. Shouldn't be a problem, because I have a dedicated fiber optic connection. Why, then, can Boinc only download the project files one or two at a time and only at around 0.4 to 5 kbps?

I checked my firewall settings and made sure Boinc had full access. The network usage is set to 0 and 0 in Boinc (no limit).

Did I miss a setting or make some other beginner's mistake?

Thanks for your help!
