Looks like I will just have to dream about using BOINC since I cannot get it to work properly.

Bobklosak is not the only person with this kind of problem. I had a working version on my laptop but had a computer crash which could only be sorted by using my recovery disks to rebuild the software. I reinstalled BOINC on a user account with allow any user checked. Initially it worked but after the computer was shut down and restated (windows updates) it failed to connect to the localhost saying incorrect password. As this is a Windows7 home edition there is no facility to modify user groups as suggested on screen. Reinstalling has been carried out in both admin and user accounts with allow all users checked and in each case BOINC again gave a working version until the next computer restart when I am back with the incorrect password message. Currently BOINC will only work if I am logged in to my admin account and not a user account.

I have tried installing an earlier version but again BOINC only works in the user account until the next reboot.

It seems that the installation is not recognising the allow all users selection. Is there a configuration file where this can be amended manually?
