I finally tested it. Still no luck. I was able to start sql in safe mode flushed the privilages reapplied the permissions and after I start sql in normal mode, I still can't connect using -u root or even -u boincadm.

When I logged in as boincadm I was able to start the process. Now I get the sql error (1045, "Access denied for user root@localhost")when I try to create the test_app. It won't let me login as boincadm or root to grant rights.

The VM I downloaded is debian-6-boinc-server_trunk. Could that be the problem?

On the official wiki, it says the best way to start a server is to download and run the boinc server vm.

I downloaded the VM but there was nothing installed on it. I followed the steps but after I logged in as root and cd ~/boinc-trunk. I got the error

The location does not exist.

Please help.
