BOINC Manager :
Windows 8 support?
(Message 48035)
Posted 4 Mar 2013 by will824 Post: Hi guys. I am using the last development version 7.0.52 with windows 8 and to date the following bugs persist: - The CPU processing will still take place even tough I have instructed Boinc not to do any work while user is using the computer. Only GPU will not do any work. - If I allow the GPU to work and then I try to stop it, then it will soft crash the Nvidia Driver (latest version). Thanks a lot and lets hope you will come with an official version sometime soon, as with the previous bugs its very unstable to use it. |

Posted 3 Oct 2012 by will824 Post: I am using already 3 days Boinc with Development version: 7.0.31 Development version Download (8.98 MB) 7 July 2012 No issues whatsoever, although I am having Boinc Manager closed with the tasks running in the background. Seems this is an issue with version 7.0.28 Any ideas? |

Posted 1 Oct 2012 by will824 Post: It is the last version of Boinc. Hi Everyone, Sorry for not being specific about the version I had currently installed. It is: 7.0.28 for Windows 64-bit (8.98 MB) I can only see 3 versions: 7.0.31 Development version Download (8.98 MB) 7 July 2012 7.0.28 Recommended version Download (8.98 MB) 21 May 2012 6.12.34 Older version Download (8.55 MB) 28 July 2011 In the 7.0.28 even if I choose to close Boinc Manager still blocks my computer at logon. I am running Boinc in 3 different computers and this only happens in this one. I attach the information from the computer I am having issues with: http://paste2.org/p/2290531 I will try the development version to see hot it goes. |

Windows 7x64 Logon Screen (in Domain) problem with Boinc
(Message 45827)
Posted 27 Sep 2012 by will824 Post: Hi Ageless, thanks for answering. It is the last version of Boinc. Boinc is not using the screen saver, as it is disabled by default from the Domain, meaning that screen saver is never enabled. I am performing some tests right now by closing the Boinc Manager and only leaving the tasks to execute in the background. It has been running almost 2 days without locking the logon screen. I will update back after some more time. Thanks! |

Windows 7x64 Logon Screen (in Domain) problem with Boinc
(Message 45800)
Posted 26 Sep 2012 by will824 Post: Hi Everyone, I am trying to use Boinc in my office computer, which is connected to the Company Domain and I have been experiencing some problems with Boinc. Sometimes (quite often) the following happens: When the computer goes Idle and you come back, Windows would usually show the logon screen, at which you should see the logged user as well as the input box to write the password. The behavior that I am experienced (ONLY when using Boinc) is that the Screen would keep empty, showing the blue background typical to Win 7 and even if I can see the mouse and move it, nothing else will happen, not even hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del. I have trying finding answers basically everywhere without avail, so if someone out there has experienced something similar, any help is appreciated. I wish to be able to keep donating computational power even at work, but with this issue, I usually have to restart the computer and lose all my opened documents and work spaces, which is very annoying and affects my work, therefore I will have to stop using Boinc if I don't manage to fix it. Thanks everyone! |
