Investigated the problem a bit more and now I got the impression that it is related to the graphics card. See: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/ticket/1197#comment:2 |

Blue screens of Death show STOP errors, not status codes. Oh. Ok. I mixed that up. If your computer shows STOP Error 0x000001, you may want to check out http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935936. This problems seems to be related to Windows Vista only but I got Windows 7. Else, please check Windows Event Viewer (Start->Administrative Tools->Event Viewer) for the correct error message. Or write it down next time you see it. Thanks for the tip. In the event view I saw that the error code is actually 0x0000001e. Independently, the problem with the explorer crashes persists in version 7.0.28. I filed a bug report: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/ticket/1197 |

I'm facing the same problem. Sometimes, I even get a blue screen. I just downloaded the latest version 7.0.28 because according to the VersionHistory, it contains some bug fixes that might help. Particularly the one about "status code 1" might fix this because the blue screens always showed some message about "Status Code 0x000001". I will report back if I get the feeling that it is fixed. |
