As long as I let BOINC run with BOINC data sitting in Application Support, it seems to work (didn't attach projects yet). After moving BOINC data to the other drive and fixing permissions with the script posted here: https://github.com/BOINC/boinc/wiki/Tools-for-MacOS (Mac_SA_Secure.sh) I get error code -1071. It can't be fixed with a re-install. Side note: The spinning wheels in the permissions section of the information for BOINC directories disappeared after removing the BOINC groups before re-installing BOINC.

"Sie sind momentan nicht befugt BOINC zu verwalten. Um BOINC mit dem aktuellen Nutzer auszuführen müssen Sie: - BOINC neu installieren und die Frage bezüglich "non-administrative users" mit "Ja" beantworten oder - Ihren Administrator kontaktieren damit Sie in die Benutzergruppe 'boinc_master' aufgenommen werden." I tried the second option but now I have permission problems with the data directory. First with projects. I granted myself rw permissions but ran into the second error below, having to re-install BOINC. "Der Besitzstatus oder die Berechtigungen von BOINC sind nicht korrekt. Bitte installieren Sie BOINC neu. (Fehlercode -1200 bei /Volumes/Obelix/BOINC Data/slots)" Editing permissions so my user has read and write permissions leads to: "Der Besitzstatus oder die Berechtigungen von BOINC sind nicht korrekt. Bitte installieren Sie BOINC neu. (Fehlercode -1071)" I'll investigate that further on Sunday evening or Monday morning. Should my user be member of the group boinc_projects? Side note I have a permanent spinning wheel instead of the name for a user or a group in the permissions section of the informations for boinc directories.

I was busy with work and then had a bike accident. I installed 8.2.11 just now with the same result. "Der Besitzstatus oder die Berechtigungen von BOINC sind nicht korrekt. I can't recall what went wrong with 8.2.8 but with 8.2.9 it showed the incorrect permissions error launching the app after the installation. Another observation: The BOINC Manager app became an Alias. Maybe, it results from having moved the BOINC data to a separate SDD. Reverting to 8.2.5 fixes the issue. If you need more details, I'll happily reinstall 8.2.9 and send logs or try tricks to solve the problem. Kind regards, Felix

Message 111519 Posted 8 Apr 2023 by Felix Kaeufer	I've got the same problem. It worked more or less with macOS 13.3 but stopped after updating to 13.3.1. While running macOS 13.3, the lines blinked weirdly but not too much. I hoped it would be fixed sooner or later. Now under macOS 13.3.1, there are a lot of things broken. The status (running, uploading etc) is correct, news, messages and overall hard drive usage are being shown. Lost are: Work done, average work done, resource allocation, progress, elapsed time, estimated time, progress, hard drive usage per project and statistics. Statistics sometimes has a weird bug of showing a bunch of numbers instead of the plotting area, which is only a few mm wide at right edge of the display. Also, statistics starts on 1970-01-01. I should add that BOINC data is not located on the startup drive, which might cause unforeseen problems.

Clicking on Notices tab opens a new about:blank tab in my standard browser. I'm not sure but I believe it started to behave like this after installing macOS 10.12.4. I've tried closing and re-opening and reinstalling BOINC to fix the issue so far.

I've tried several things like detaching projects with no tasks to send, and setting min. work buffer to 3 days and max. to 4 days. But I only have 2 tasks while 6 CPU are set to be used by BOINC. 13) Message boards : Questions and problems : my CPU is very hot Message 43668 Posted 22 Apr 2012 by Felix Kaeufer	Yes it's true, that it is not the BOINC client itself, but something changed, which led to a higher CPU temperature. It is not one of the CPU settings, it's not another program (none are opened, except BOINC), and I'm sure there are no new workunits, except collatz3.06 (opencl_osx). But even this workunit doesn't seem to be the reason for this high temperature, because when I disable the GPU usage the temperature doesn't change. Anyway could you please tell me what workunits or projects generate more heat than others.
14) Message boards : Questions and problems : my CPU is very hot Message 43646 Posted 21 Apr 2012 by Felix Kaeufer	Since the BOINC software update for MacOS X yesterday, my CPU is very hot even at 25% usage. Before I could set the usage up to 50% and there was nearly no fan action. But now the fans are running at 6200rpm, which seems to be their maximum, and the CPU temperature goes up to 90Â°C.
