I have been running BOINC manager along with the above project now for a week after upgrading to Windows 11 Pro. It's been doing just fine, other than some issues not being able to start any other new projects. But this problem is with the BOINC manager itself.
Now suddenly, when starting the manager, it hangs for about 10 seconds while presumably retrieving projects, then the window pops up to Exit the manager or cancel. Hitting cancel just does the same thing over and over. Exiting of course exits fine. No project ever is retrieved and started. I have down a reboot twice, I have uninstalled boinc manager and reinstalled with latest version as stated above, nothing changes. No hardware changes either. It was all fine until today.

Any help would be appreciated. Mike C

I fully believed it would end up being a Windows issue, as it usually is. But I figured someone here would've had the same issue at some point and would know a fix. And you had the right fix. Worked like a charm. Thanks ever so much for your help in pointing me in the correct direction.

Downloaded recent new BOINC upgade 7.16.11. When I went to install it, (along with new Virtual Box), it shows an error trying to locate the install .msi file. It's there, I pointed the install to the file and it simply states it can't locate it on the network. I uninstalled and tried reinstalling from scratch, same error messages every time. Anyone know of a workaround?

I just attempted to upgrade the BOINC mgr with VirtualBox and had significant issues with the install. It was repeatedly having difficulty locating and reading the previous install. Many attempts at manually deleting all related files was unscuccessful as well as cleaning out the registry of related values. I then followed the steps outlined on the help section, and ultimately followed the steps to download the FixIt program from Microsoft. It states in the Help section that this program will not work with Win 10, but I downloaded and ran it anyway. It worked great. I downloaded the prior version of BOINC and then followed the upgrade steps to the new version and all worked fine.

Just info for anyone having the same issue.
