Its that time again where a BOINC update for android has left the server feeling a bit confused. The server thinks that this host has a intel GPU. But it doesn't, it has 8 ARM CPUs and 1 Mali GPU.....
Host 8000095

2) Message boards : BOINC client : Linux version outdated (Message 67428)
Posted 2 Feb 2016 by Kiska
Post:
The problem is that Ubuntu software centre and its repo, is giving me 7.4.23, a developmental build, to me. My Linux distro is Ubuntu 15.04. So is there a guide to build 7.6.22 for Ubuntu available as well as a guide to allow BOINC manager on another computer to access it?
I've already tried with the remote_hosts.cfg file, but it won't let me connect on the same network no less, also I have not made a error on the password, actually the gui_rpc_auth is blank

The latest version for download for linux x64 is 7.2.42, which is almost 2 years outdated. And the development version is also about 1 1/2 years outdated. So when will Linux receive the more recent version?

Hi:

I don't know if it is a BOINC related problem or a project however CPDN tasks are not trickling to the server about the status of the WU in progress. Is this a BOINC related problem or a project? And if it is BOINC is there a manual way on forcing a trickle? Here is the thread on CPDN: http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=7617#46472

Hi you should remove that version since it is a broken beta and use the one that Berkeley provides instead of the repositories otherwise do this:
There's some hold-up getting the 7.0.27 package backported into 12.04, there was a different bug found, (I haven't had an issue)...

There is the ppa repository, however that was just changed to 7.0.28, and I have not tested it yet so who knows what will or wont work. It should not have the "computation error" bug however as the 12.04 repository package currently does.

If you want to try the package from the ppa repository, (currently 7.0.28)
do (in a terminal):
sudo apt-get remove boinc
sudo apt-get install python-software-properties
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:costamagnagianfranco/boinc
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install boinc

This will add the active ppa repository to your system and install boinc from it. This version gets changed regularly however, so you are more likely to run into problems using this repository, however for now at least you can have something that should work, vs. something that doesn't.

As I mentioned Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal) has a fix in it's repository, but there is some holdup getting that package into 12.04 as 12.04 is a long term support release and they want to make sure once the package is replaced, it will be a version that can be relied on for some time..

This is from the sticky thread of the same folder. I will post here for convenience: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=7595

It also happens to some Einstein tasks as well thats why. Also if you haven't noticed but this is the main BOINC website where we ca download the final/beta product of the client

A simple fix would be to update windows and have the latest service pack installed, microsoft released a update for explorer for boinc making it crash first update then check if its not fixed than there is nothing else I can do without experimenting with it myself

I have a problem with boinc with Ubuntu 12.04 where Primegrid tasks give a code 1 error output and it happens to every single task so I have paused all remaining Primegrid tasks until a diagnosis can be formed.
BOINC version: 7.0.28

I went back to the jobs that were on version 7.0.24 and it had exit code 193 on ABC@home and it was the exact same exit code on 7.0.26 so I assumed that the problem still existed thus I made a new thread

No it fixed errors with ABC@home but now the exact same error is happening in eOn, so whatever the problem is I think the devs need to go back to the drawing board and start all over or find the portion of the code that involves error number -193

Hi there I posted a message a while ago on version 7.0.24 with compute errors. Well eOn is having compute errors with version 7.0.26. I'll be reverting back to version 6.12.33 when I update the repositories to do so.
stdeer output on 1 of the results sent back:

Post:
According to a post made on : http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=7463 version 7.0.26 was going to be released on the 14 of April however it still hasn't been released for linux users yet can a rough estimate time be available to linux users so that we can have a rough outline of the time it takes. For Linux users if you have a computation error it is caused by something in BOINC version 7.0.24 so roll back temporarily to version 6.12.33 until the update has been released
15) Message boards : GPUs : Reserving GPU power (Message 43557)
Posted 17 Apr 2012 by Kiska
Post:
With that said can it be done outside of boinc such as a speed modifier or inside linux kernel or something along these lines? Also can it be limited to only use 4 cuda cores instead of the 8 in the processor? As I am running more than just BOINC, I am also running mprime, as well as distributed.net and others can it be split into sections and used simultaneously? And yes I did change it because I am using my computer/laptop 24/7 and require the use of minimal gpu usage as I am only doing web browsing and document processing. Well can this idea be presented to the developers of all editions of BOINC and let them think about it and do a poll whether it should be done?

Is there a way to reserve processing power of the GPU exclusively for displaying and drawing graphics, even 10 Mhz will do as it's really slow and I am using my laptop so I do need some GPU power.
Stats:
Lenovo SL500
Intel Core 2 Duo(tm) P8400 @2.26Ghz
2GB RAM
Nvidia 9300M GS with 256MB for dedicated RAM
160GB HDD
Ubuntu 12.04 beta 2

Since it is beta but I welcome all suggestions and solutions, solutions for version 11.10 should work for 12.04 beta 2 so if you have any please post the solution and I will see if it'll work
I mainly use the wlan so it might be slow on downloading and uploading but its fine. Thanks

I am getting computation errors on:
ABC@home
Cosmology@home
Constellation
Leiden Classical
DistributedDataMining
climate prediction
Docking@home
SETI@home
Collatz Conjecture
DistrRTgen

Also some have limited functions and some will process up to 50%. I am using the BOINC Manager and don't use the command line so I wouldn't know where to start if ___ instructs me to enter command line items/commands. Also I am using Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit system on a Core 2 Duo.
