1) Message boards : Android : BOINC stops crunching on the Amazon Fire 5th gen ($50 model) (Message 71515)

Hi,

For some reason the Amazon Fire stops crunching tasks. When I go to BOINC, the timer is stopped for all tasks and I don't know if this is an Amazon Fire issue or a BOINC issue but it seems the tasks stops when the Wifi connection drops. The Amazon Fire has this kind of bug when it is connected to wifi but doesn't have connectivity. That is when BOINC stops crunching tasks and I have to turn off the wifi and turn it on again so BOINC can keep crunching tasks. None of my other Android devices have this problem. So it is either the Amazon Fire OS being crappy or a BOINC issue running on the platform.

Hi everyone,

I made this video showing JaguarBoard running BOINC. For a board with 16GB eMMC and 1GB of RAM, it runs great!

I'm looking forward to seeing Intel GPU applications coming to keep both my NVidia GPU and Intel GPU crunshing! So I'll be able to use my PC at 100% for BOINC.

Hello,

I downloaded BOINC 7.0.40 only to find that it supports Intel GPU detection. I would like to know if there is a test project that uses the Intel GPU?

Thanks

Hello Everyone,

On a post on the WCG Forums I found out about this new "supercomputer" being developed in a kickstarter project.

My question is, when it comes out, will there be support for this new "pc"? It is based in ARM but what is interesting here is the Epiphany accelerator, which I think should be a great idea to support once it comes out to the market.

Here is the link for this product in progress:

Still not working.

I have selected boinc to use the nVidia GPU, and added the use all gpus flag in the cc_config file. Still I'm getting No Usable GPUs found but the flag is being read.

EDIT: Upgraded BOINC to 7.0.27, and noticed that setup had the "Protected Application Execution". Card is being detected now.

Hey everyone

Bad news,
My EVO 3D died a few days ago. This has nothing to do with NativeBOINC since I was not using it at the moment this happened. Just wanted to say that I will not be able to crunch using this app until I get a new cellphone...

Once I get the new cellphone I'll start crunching some Milkyway@Home tasks again.

This is a very nice application and I've been using it since the day this post was posted, and I'm really impressed with it. Keep the good work!

Hello everyone,

So I got the MSI GE70 laptop which comes with 3rd gen Intel i7 @2.30ghz and an nVidia GeForce GT 650M. The problem is that the graphics card is not detected. (No usable GPUs found).

I went to nVidia control panel and selected BOINC to use the nVidia graphics card, but it is not being detected.

BTW, nVidia has not yet released an official driver for this card, so it is currently using the OEM one. Maybe is this the problem?

Any chance we can see this project for ARM, to be able to participate using NativeBOINC on Android?

I downloaded it and am currently using it on an HTC EVO 3D. Version 0.3.5.1 crashed on the device, so I tested version 0.3.5 which worked great. I updated to version 0.3.6 and it is currently working great on the phone. Started using PrimeGrid application but it would take a lot of time (almost 120 hours per workunit), so I now switched to Milkyway@Home which is running and each workunit lasts almost 14 hours which is a lot shorter than the PrimeGrid app.

Nice project by the way.
