1) Message boards : Questions and problems : Does SETI Continue to Run Normally if the User Logs Out? (Message 43254)

Okay, thanks for your help! As I now understand it, the BOINC program can be set to "me only" or "everyone on this computer". I assume "me only" is the default. In retrospect, there may be some advantage to a separate, dedicated "user account" for BOINC which would allow me (and all other users) to "log off" without disruption of work in progress. A dedicated "user account" for BOINC has potential application to home, school and workplace environments where BOINC participation by "everyone on this computer" is not an option. Of course, this approach would require a designated "manager" for the "BOINC user account".

I run BOINC on a Windows 7 PC with settings for different users. SETI tasks are associated with my personal settings. If I "log out" (but leave the PC on) will the SETI tasks continue to run normally? If not, is this inherent in the SETI software or does it depend on how I configure my PC and/or the SETI software? With respect to SETI tasks, what are the implications of having two or more users on the same PC? Thanks to all for your interest and response to this question.
3) Message boards : GPUs : Will Change of Video Card Affect Work in Progress? (Message 43157)

In this case the proposed change is from a standard VGA adapter (Intel 82915Gx) to an NVIDIA/ZOTAC ION video card (512MB). It appears a change of this nature in midstream is not a good idea. I will hold up until the present work units are finished. Thanks to all for your help with this issue.

I want to upgrade my video card but have work in progress. If I shut down my system (and install a different video card) will the work already completed be lost or deleted? I presently have two seti-at-home work units in progress. Will BOINC recognize the new card and resume all work in progress with no loss of time or data?
