After spending a frustrating few days trying to get BOINC to run, yesterday i thought i'd cracked it.

After rebooting the PC, it now appears that all the work the programme had completed, has gone, and i've nothing credited.

I'm at a loss for words, this just beats me.

I have 5 PCs on a small home network, each one chuntering away with the clasic version. There has to be a way to make this boinc thing easier, because i'm very tempted to give up...

Hi... first let me brush up all the hair that's laying on the floor (i must be bald by now, with all the hair pulling!)

Right, it's taken me an age to figure out how to set set/bonic up, but i've hit a snag that i just don't seem to be able to get over.

I've set up a new Boinc account, and after many hours of frustration, linked it to me Classic account.

Now, when i open the Boinc Manager, nothing happens until i try to link to a project. I use the http://setiathome.berkeley.edu link as sugested.

Then the Manager tries to communicate with the project. OK so far, but then it throws up a Proxy confirguration box. And no matter what i use here, i can't get it to work. The two settings in the options box are clear (HTTP and SOCKS) so i'm at a loss at what else i can try!

Talk about putting people off! The Classic system worked fine with a user name and a password...

Jesus...

Any help with this would be apprciated!

Cheers

Andy
