1) Message boards : Questions and problems : no WSL detected
Message 101717 Posted 22 Nov 2020 by boistordu |
So still no answers, where should I report any bugs in boinc ? Because this is clearly a bug and this has nothing to do with an error on the client? |

Have you, yourself, added WSL to your Windows 10 system? That's a pre-requisite, not installed by docker, whether it needs it or not. So I guess your API doesn't work anymore |

Message 101442 Posted 2 Nov 2020 by boistordu |
True you are not obligated to do so and use the hyperVM but I'm using WSL2 backend so: yes WSL is required by docker Install Windows 10, version 1903 or higher. |

Message 101437 Posted 2 Nov 2020 by boistordu |
I guess that since the last thing mentioned about WSL is in 7.12or 7.14, no changes have been made since? Because right now, on no windows host I have WSL detected where I use in fact docker which requires WSL. |

by the way it's not the same process than detect if the computer is busy because the option about cpu ressources being taken more than x% works. |

Message 100171 Posted 1 Aug 2020 by boistordu |
thanks for all those complete explanations. That's way much clearer when you have explained all the consequences and causes of those checker processes. Yeah so definitely i think it's fedora the problem since twe are still under this batttle between wayland use and xorg use. xorg used only if you install the nvidia proprietary drivers by a certain way or an other. Plus as docker's users are experiencing, there are also the problem about cgroups security which hasn't been resolved. But then that means it won't be fixed because there are too much things up in the stream to fix yet. Could we think about putting it in the wiki please as a warning for fedora users? |

Message 100159 Posted 30 Jul 2020 by boistordu |
Hi, I responded to several threads already o nthe subject but no clear answers has been made besides the fact of using a specific program in the exclusion list. But I'm not under windows, I'm under fedora 32 and I would like to understand where does it coming from that gpugrid computing can't stop the gpu from working while on all my windows host it's working properly. So please give me an answer to that and be specfici. IS it the responsability of fedora, of gpugrid or of boinc? It's really really annoying, and again it's working fine underwidnows hosts. the gpu is nvidia by the way. Thanks in advance |

I have the exact opposite problem under fedora 32 and gpugrid. the gpu never goes to suspended mode and keeps running. So Apparently it worked only one time. It has been deactivated after a reboot and I don't know how to restart it so I'm stucked again ^^ I guess it a version problem. since cuda is not the same version than the drivers needed for fedora 31 I'm fed up with this shit. Why this cuda is still under fedora29 since 29 has been obsolete for months now. And why isn't there a version updated for each time they update their fucking drivers ^^ |

Well under fedora no crash at all about the nvidia drivers but we don't have the specific configurations of yours. And for fedora when we want to activate nvidia drivers manually with the official installer the graphical server is still Xorg. Wayland or mutter is not compatible with the nvidia installer so it get replaced anyway. But good news I've finally succeeded. You need to download from https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-downloads?target_os=Linux&target_arch=x86_64&target_distro=Fedora&target_version=29&target_type=rpmlocal The manual cuda installer doesn't work the dnf repo eithersince you will have issues with nvidia graphics not up to date are really working properlymsot of the time. But there is a final solution the rpm file. Maybe it was a temporary problem of dependency but the cuda-repo-fedora29... worked. When this package has been isntalled and the boinc client service restarted, everything was detected by Boinc and now it works as intended. [/url] |

I know that. That's why I'm only relying on the nvidia proprietary drivers here. And aside from that I would like to understand what is missing to make it work the rpm fusion seems to screw things up and not activate cuda either. So besides libcuda whet else is needed and how to obtain it without the rpmfusion repo |

Message 94424 Posted 20 Dec 2019 by boistordu |
boinc itselfs says it is starting with child process from there so that's not the problem. And it's because of this page about cuda in fedora that I'm wondering if there is not something more. And I can't test it because the cuda toolkit si for fedora29 at the moment so for an older version of gcc than 9.2.1 so I'm stucked. I can't use the rpmfusion repo version because as I said yesterday, the hardware acceleration for an unknown reason suck and make the steam games crash. And so that's a no go. Do you know anything aboutt the librairies mentionned in this page? and nobody is under fedora here? amongst the modoretors? |

Message 94419 Posted 20 Dec 2019 by boistordu |
aloready done that. That's how I install my drivers. That's why the acceleration is working. IF there was a signle problem with it, steam wouldn't work. It's more about cuda I think. Something seems to be installed during the rpmfusion procedure which is not installed during the simple nvidia proprietary drivers procedure. |

Message 94415 Posted 20 Dec 2019 by boistordu |
that's from boinc website
But if this is accurate, then through my numerous nvidia drivers's installing procedures, if boinc based its detection on the presence of libraries, then the symbolic links would have been replaced by those installations. I have no clue here . |

I feel already better now that I succeeded to reinstall the nvidia original drivers without the repos. Now the games are working properly, glxgears is printing 60fps correctly and not 300 or I don't know anymore like before. All the lib are installed correctly now and detected too.
