I just changed the "User" to root and ran restart. Seems to work.

Fedora 30 5.1.16-300.fc30.x86_64
Boinc 7.14.2 x86_64-pc-linux-gnu
NVIDIA-SMI 430.34 Driver Version: 430.34 CUDA Version: 10.1
GeForce GTX 960

boinc --detect_gpus creates the file coproc_info.xml which says I have
cuda>1
name>GeForce GTX 960
ram>1.9gig
etc.....
stdoutgpudetect.txt says Missing start tag in cc_config.xml

If I systemctl start boinc-client.service and run boincmgr I don't get any GPU work
If I cd /var/lib/boinc and nohup boinc & I get GPU work.
What's the fix?
Thanks

I was running Fedora 25 and upgraded to FC29. My box is a 6 core AMD 1090T, 20 GB RAM and a NVIDIA GTX-770. For the past period of time I've been running 925,000 credits per day. I also have boinc on a separate disk, OS on sda, boinc on sdb. So that after a upgrade all I have to do is repoint boinc-client.service to sdb. (aside: after all the hassle of re-installing NVIDIA & CUDA). Now for the past couple of days I'm getting 300,000 credits/day.

Before the upgrade I remember running a "ps" and getting several lines (4? 5?) like:
projects/boinc.thesonntags.com_collatz/collatz_sieve_1.
projects/boinc.thesonntags.com_collatz/collatz_sieve_1.
projects/boinc.thesonntags.com_collatz/collatz_sieve_1.

now I only have 1 job running - but then that was the other day and I have trouble remembering what I had for dinner last night.

Any thoughts? What would you like to see?

Thanks

stdoutdae.txt has the following line just after detecting my GPU

ATI: libaticalrt.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I'm running on FC22/GeForce gpu. I searched and found an rpm and downloaded ... requires catalyst. OK, dl that, requires 3 more rpms. So is it worth it to go on a Where's Waldo? trek? Would it gain me anything? DNF info says there are 65 perl packages. Am I being taken for a walk in the woods???
Thanks

Fedora 22
Boinc 7.6.22 x86_64-pc-linux-gnu via DNF install

systemctl runs, ps grep boinc show it running for ... 2? 3? minutes then dies. No projects are started.

If I "cd /var/lib/boinc" then "nohup boinc &" everything runs.

Suggestions please
Thanks

SOLVED. (good news)

(the bad) Not sure how I did it... but I have a Seti ... CUDA(60).
I downloaded
NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-340.96.run
xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs-346...rpm
dnf install cuda
dnf install kernel-devel kernel-headers
dnf install libvdpau
dnf install xorg-x11-drv-nvidia
dnf install kmod kmod-libs kmod-devel libmikmod libmikmod-devel mikmod
dnf install $(nvidia-detect)
dnf install vdpauinfo libva-vdpau-driver libva-utils
dnf install plymouth-theme-solar

and somehow I got/get:
CUDA: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTS 250 (driver version 340.96, CUDA version 6.5, compute capability 1.1, 1023MB, 943MB available, 622 GFLOPS peak)
07-Jul-2016 07:02:29 [---] OpenCL: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTS 250 (driver version 340.96, device version OpenCL 1.0 CUDA, 1023MB, 943MB available, 622 GFLOPS peak)
07-Jul-2016 07:02:29 [---] [coproc] NVIDIA library reports 1 GPU

So it looks like I may be back - time will tell.

Oh we decided it was out-dated so it's no longer supported.

To put it mildly - [redacted]

After much time on the web searching for a solution to my problem I have come the conclusion that under FC-19 and the Boinc/projects of the load that my GPU was being used. Now it's not. What determines if the GPU is to be used. I have to think, Boinc, because the MGR log says "No usable gpu found" comes from the boingmgr log. My card is a GeForce GTS 250, but not found in the usable list - by Boinc.

More detail: I backed up my home dir. De-raided my system (kept getting failing drive - another story). Loaded FC22 from scratch - dnf install(ed) boinc-client boincmgr. When I started the first time I said Connect to BAM I'm returning... it knew who I was and put everything back and started running at 33%.

PS - I've found I can ONLY start boinc or mgr after I "cd /var/lib/boinc" - if not nothing happens.

Last week I was running FC19 with a version of Boinc from about 3 years ago. My CPU is a AMD 6 core and I was averaging 30,000 credits per day. Last week I upgraded to FC22 and reloaded Boinc (DNF) My credits dropped to < 10,000. Any thoughts?
Thanks

I have a Orange Pi PC, quad core @ 1.6 running Fedora 22.
I've installed boinc-client and boinc-manager

systemctl start boinc-client.service

ps -ef | grep boinc
boinc 15430 1 0 Apr10 ? 00:00:00 /bin/bash /usr/bin/boinc --dir /var/lib/boinc
boinc 15431 15430 1 Apr10 ? 00:07:47 /usr/bin/boinc_client --allow_multiple_clients --dir /var/lib/boinc

Then I ran boincmgr and added a project (einstein) and got the files. But ps doesn't change and nothing seems to be happening. boinccmd --get_tasks returns nothing - it's as if I'm talking to my teenage kid.
Ideas???
Tks

Didn't know it wasn't "boinc dev" that didn't do the builds. Have to research who does the builds.

7.2.33 x86_64-pc-linux-gnu from the log file.

boincmgr says there is a newer version which I downloaded, it installs in my home dir

There isn't a "export BOINCCFG=/var/lib/boinc" ????? or cc_config ??? and I have to cd to /var/lib/boinc to start the program? I'm trying to think of one other program that requires me to cd specificdir to run. thinking, thinking... nope.

As an ex-software tester - defect!
-------------------
more investigation: as root I can "boincmgr -d /var/lib/boinc" from anywhere but as "chuck" it won't run - well it comes up - blank and won't connect.

Hmmm... boingmgr works fine - if started in /var/lib/boinc. I still can't get boinc to report - I've got about 30 "ready to report" in Tasks.
