The most up to date GPU is reported twice in the system spec, based on compute capability, but in the task details you can see which GPU the task ran on and both GPU's real details.

This is what I had expected after reading this thread and confirmed by BOINC Manager identifying the stronger / newer GPU as device 0.

Installed a GTX 460 in the first (top) PCIe slot after moving down a 570 to the second slot. BM interprets the 570 as device 0 and the 460 as device 1.

The computer's GPU description indicates [2] NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 - not the "device 0" 570 as expected. Presumably because BOINC project (server) project software uses the system's lowered numbered PCI bus (as interpreted by Windows) rather than the BOINC client's GPU device sequence.

Not a big deal for me but could be misleading for people who browse project host lists before deciding on a new GPU purchase? Exactly what I did before taking the plunge and ordering the 570 for my main GPU project - GPUGrid.

Not practical to swap cards around as the reason the 460 is in the top slot is because it is about 10mm slimmer than the fat 570. Both cards have non-reference twin fan coolers. Even the small gap of 10mm, aided by a case side intake fan, generates very acceptable temps of around 70 deg C (both cards) when crunching GPUGrid. The alternative config would have the cards practically touching!
