1) Message boards : Questions and problems : Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with given CA certificates (Message 98966)

Got this error with Rosetta and LHC 11:01am UTC 30th May 2020. On all my (Windows 10) machines, while requesting work.
"Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with given CA certificates"
But Universe and Einstein and Milkyway are ok.

Any ideas what screwed up? My computer? Both Rosetta and LHC at once? Boinc in general?

BOINC's handling of an expired entry in the ca-bundle.crt file.

It affects all projects that use https, Windows or Android, and a certain entry in that file.

See the other threads with recent posts for more discussion of details, and a fix for Windows but not Android.
2) Message boards : Projects : Projects excluding GPU's (Message 38514)

These two BOINC projects have low enough requirements on what GPUs they can use that you might want to look at them before giving up:

http://www.primegrid.com/

Also, I've found that Rosetta@Home (and therefore Ralph@home) has announced that they have dropped their plans to convert their current application to run on GPUs, since it's so serial in nature that it would actually run slower on GPUs than on more CPUs.

WCG isn't saying much about their plans, but appears not especially interested in GPUs yet.

superlinkattechnion appears to have lost enough of their developers that they can no longer consider reprogramming to allow GPUs even if they want to.

A few other projects appear likely to consider adding GPU applications, but not until a suitable 6.14.* version of BOINC is available. I expect Poem@Home to be among the first of these.

Note - this web page does not list that model of graphics board, but does offer some information on what to expect for similar models:

Some suggestions that MIGHT help:

Search through the various BOINC projects related to math and ask a few of them if they are interested in adding such an application.

Also, check which universities they are connected with, and see if attending one of those universities will make that university interested in adding it, especially if you take classes relevant to the programming of such a project.

I would expect many universities to make servers available to those in the more advanced classes on how to use them.

You might want to discuss that with the developers of this project:

They appear to have done a quantum-related project already.

I've been running it for weeks.

On my desktop, it slowed down BOINC workunits so much that I removed all of its temperature limits. Now, one of the fans is often noisy, but the temperatures still stay reasonable. I now use it on that computer mainly to display the CPU temperatures.

On my laptop, it has reduced, but not completely eliminated, the frequency with which that laptop overheats enough that it goes into sleep mode.

I have a rather wide selection of BOINC projects on each computer.

The documentation appeared to imply that it has the ability to slow down non-BOINC programs also, but never explained it well enough that I could try it.

If you're a student at that university, have you considered setting up a new BOINC project there, aimed at something that university in interested in? You might then have to pass it on to other students later, but what I've seen suggests that to be one of the more successful ways of getting a university to allow some of their computers to be used for BOINC projects.
7) Message boards : Promotion : Getting a .edu email address (Message 38506)

If you want an .edu email address, have you considered signing up for one of the cheaper online continuing education classes or even a local community college continuing education class, but insisting that you do it only at schools that offer an .edu email address to their students? That should at least insure that you have a right to such an email address.
8) Message boards : Promotion : BOINC Merchandise based on Participation Levels? (Message 38505)

World Community Grid and a few other BOINC projects are already awarding badges showing the degree of participation. Generally available only as small images on your computer screen, though.
