The rasberry GPU looks like it gets about 1 GFLOP/dollar of single-precision arithmetic, while most modern GPUs get 2 to 5 times that ratio. A 9500 GT for example costs roughy $40 and produces close to 90 GFLOPs of single-precision arthimetic. GTX 570s, 580s and 590s are closer to 3 - 4 GFLOP/dollar.

The cost/performance ratio of the rasberry pi seems very low; I'd guess the ARM CPU produces about 1 GFLOP (the Eee PC with a 900 MHz CPU produces 1.3 GFLOP, so the ARM is probably comparable), and thus to get the same performance from rasberry pi as a quad-core CPU (40 GFLOPS) would take $1000, while the quad core would probably be $200-$250 at most.

It'd be much better to just go with conventional computer equipment, unless the price of the rasberry goes way down.

I have a Core 2 Quad CPU with 2 GTX 260s, Windows Vista 32 bit.

I recently reinstalled Windows Vista and upgraded to BOINC ver. 6.12.34 from an older version. I've tried to add projects as an existing member, but it keeps saying "Login Failed", even though I'm certain the login info is correct.

Why is this happening? Even after I've changed my password it won't let me add projects, but I can access my account on the project webpages (e.g. I can access my account at eON but I can't add the project to Boinc).
5) Message boards : Projects : Would a tornado/tsunami/earthquake simulation program be a good idea for BOINC? (Message 38681)

The number of natural disasters occurring recently has got me thinking about this. Perhaps it would be useful to simulate, say, a large city like Los Angles being stuck by a significant earthquake, or an EF5 tornado hitting a populated ares, etc? (Also, I'm not a new member - I've been crunching climate models for a year now as well as some other projects.)
6) Message boards : GPUs : Can I run BOINC programs on PCI (Not PCI-E) GPUs? (Message 38415)

I don't expect spectacular performance, but I want to maximize my contributions to BOINC projects that use GPUs, like Collatz conjecture or MilkyWay@home. Is there any way to get these projects to run on a PCI GPU?
