If you use the BOINC Manager 'attach' wizard, it goes through a extra stage: it calls get_project_config.php to fetch the master_url and attaches to that.

If you use boinccmd to attach to the project, you are responsible for verifying that you have the up-to-date address, by following links link the one you've kindly posted.

If you are attached to a project by an Account Manager, you are in the hands of the administrator of that AM, who may or may not be keeping alert to changes and applying them in a timely fashion.

There's an open request to get this mess sorted out (#2642), but no progress.

I had taken the time about 2 years ago to test all of the new account attach addresses on that version of BOINC and make a list of projects that were going to http instead of https. I did this because I had noted that once the project was loaded the client continued to use an http even though the project had an https. The response that I got was kind of MYOB the cleint will take care of it and implied that I did not have enough experience with BOINC to be helpful. I shrugged my virtual shoulders and deleted everything. In May I will roll into my 23 year of distributive computing.

Another Project that has one application for Android is Yoyo@home. Their Cruncher ogr application has an Android application.

I am completing these tasks with the following system
ARM
ARMv7 Processor rev 3 (v7l) [Impl 0x41 Arch 7 Variant 0x0 Part 0xc07 Rev 3]

Android
3.10.9-12390409 (Android 7.1.1)

Universe is just back online today. Was still offline yesterday, due to an SSD issue, the project manager sent an update about it a few days ago.

As far as Einstein, I have no success running it.
Occasionally I get Einstein WUs, but I think just like with Yoyo, or Moo!, they just end up with computation errors.

Ah, I see,
Einstein was set up to do GPU projects only.
What Einstein project runs on ARM?
Following projects are disabled on Einstein, because I don't need to run them on my Intel x86 CPU:

Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo)
Gamma-ray pulsar binary search #1
Gamma-ray pulsar search #5
Gravitational Wave search O2 Multi-Directional
Gravitational Wave search O3 All-Sky

The only Application that Einstein has for Android is Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo) (BRP4). If you set your Android devices to be in a different location "Home or School" etc you can enable that application for only Android devices.

WuProp is gone forever unless Sebastien takes up one or more of the offers that was provided to him.

Also see original post on project website before it gets taken down

WuProp was science. It was a repository / database of BOINC projects, their applications and how popular they were by measuring the hours people who ran the NCI (Non Compute Intensive) project in tandem with their other projects.
Sounds like a trainspotting service to me. A slight piece of usefulness for someone to decide which project to run. No great loss.

Respectfully in disagreement with your opinion. Many small science based projects have gotten their user jump start because of WUProp. The competitive nature of WUProp encouraged users to create accounts on every new Project and every add on Application to existing projects. When Einstein would create a new application usually WUProp would be showing the application in Beta status before it was listed on the Einstein project. I went from a cruncher of about 8 projects to a cruncher of over 121 projects / applications in excess of 100 hours of computation. To Distributive Computing in general a significant loss.

Here is on forum discussion of this terrible news. There is some intentions and will to keep the flame (on table: volunteering, picking up, forking, remaking, and blame campaign (in order of effort required)). But no signs of resolution yet.

Your Signature is why WUProp is important. It gets the little new projects noticed.

I am proud of you guy's ... doing what is right. Before you completely stand down from your current Active Volunteer status please fill some water proof containers and send some of that moisture to us here in Northern Texas. We are currently well under our annuals and getting ready to move into the dryer months.

We should take a leaf out of the Swiss book. Military is to defend yourself. Why should we pick sides on other people's wars? If you see a fight in the street, you don't pick a side and join in!

Pity somebody couldn't make this forum user friendly instead of us having to type code like back in the days of DOS.

MilkyWay works well on Windows, both CPU and GPU (with the right card, usually AMD).
I think it works on Nvidia (they can run OpenCL), but slower. I don't have any Nvidias to try, because they're rubbish.

I didn't mean to imply that Putin himself would bother with my computer. But there's an army of Russian miscreants out there who are wreaking cyber havoc on governmental, commercial and private networks.
Perhaps if the USA, the EU, and the UK would stop interfering in wars that are none of their business, using our tax dollars, the world would be a quieter place.

Is there a plan to correct the text on the download button on the website for this? The error undermines confidence in the platform and leads to unnecessary confusion.

I would not really expect them to... When they released 7.16.20 they basically refused to update the release notes (a whole lot of "It's not my Job" ) and since "documenting" changes is one of the golden rules of programming they have lowered the bar significantly recently. Of course I am not involved at that level and there may be other issues and considerations as to the why and how things get done or reasons why they don't.

Hi

Is there a way of lowering the impact of having active BOINC startup apps?

BOINC manager for windows: High impact
BOINC system tray for windows: medium impact

Having them on makes the startup 5-10 minutes longer.

Using Windows 10 version 21H2 with Dell something with intel core i7 vpro 8th gen

So right now I am not running any projects because of the daily hassle at startup.

Why do they even have to be running at startup?
Can't they load at first time screensaver runs?

Yours,
Johan

Johan,

Your experience of a 5 - 10 minute delay at startup impact is quite unusual from my experience. I am also running Win 10 but with older slower CPUs i5 or older Xeon chips and from the time I see the BOINC icon hit my tray to completion is 90 to 120 Seconds. Do you have some form of Antivirus that is trying to validate BOINC at every start up ?

I don't see any error messages on any pages when I go there.

PROJECT DATABASE/Stats last updated 2021-12-28 14:10

According to a project scientist, project owner "Progger" has been not seen or heard from for MANY MONTHS now and apparently no one else has access/password to the servers.

Easiest example of a web page error is the Project home page.... Shown at the top is

Deprecated: trim(): Passing null to parameter #1 ($string) of type string is deprecated in /home/boinc/projects/odlk/html/inc/boinc_db.inc on line 147

When I try to sign into my account I get the following on the Login page
Deprecated: urldecode(): Passing null to parameter #1 ($string) of type string is deprecated in /home/boinc/projects/odlk/html/user/login_form.php on line 26

Deprecated: trim(): Passing null to parameter #1 ($string) of type string is deprecated in /home/boinc/projects/odlk/html/inc/boinc_db.inc on line 147

BUT ... the project has exported Credit stats for the first time in 17 days

The main "name" for the project now appears to be .... Natalia Makarova

Grumble: Because my passport has expired, I can't use the on-line service to renew my driving licence but have to go to Post Office and use form D1. Be interesting to see if I get new one by February when old one expires. The really annoying bit is the amount of things I had to fill in before telling me this.
The saga continues:

My nearest post office couldn't do it and told me two others that allegedly could. I went to the closest of these who told me the reminder letter I had was no use and I needed the original notification with a bar code on it. (I hadn't received any such original notification.) On trying the main post office in Cambridge, all sorted and the one I had been told could do it wouldn't have been able to anyway. The person who delt with me very efficiently thinks the person in the second one was probably thinking about vehicle license renewal and not driving license. Anyway it seems that in two out of three post offices, there are staff who don't know their funny bone from their fundament, at least going by my limited sample.

I suspect that your sample is a good representation. Regardless of county of origin GS positions seem to attract the two ends of the bell curve.

Unfit to be a parent...

Mom put teenage son with COVID in trunk for drive-thru testing, Texas officials say

While in line, the mom told the school district’s health service director that she drove to the stadium with her son in the trunk as she didn’t want to be exposed to the coronavirus while taking him to get additional testing...

A review of school security surveillance cameras captured the moment the teen moved from the trunk to the back seat ...

Police have since issued a warrant for the woman’s arrest... the woman faces a felony charge of endangering a child.

And unfit to be a Texan

Both of those projects show small recent credit increases when I look at your BOINCStats personal page. It looks like you did have a nonproductive gap.

Jord, sorry you had Moderna, worse side effects.
I'm not sorry, the side effects of the first AstraZeneca were worse: I couldn't use my left arm for 3 days, it was just hanging there. So in context, these are normal.

Still, get well soon.

My wife and I both have had Moderna (2) and a Moderna booster with the only side effects for all 3 rounds being a little arm ache for 2 days and a listless run down no real energy for 2 days

Good Luck
