Is it possible to run BOINC from a RAM drive to increase speed? I have WinXP (32 bit) and Ubuntu (64 bit) machines, both with 1gB RAM. Note that about 1/3 is used on the Win XP machine and thought about running a RAM drive to increase speed. Machines run 24/7/365.

Also, can you run multiple instances of BOINC on the same computer at the same time? I realize that it would use less CPU and more RAM, but is it even possible?

I will try that with the button - wuda figured that I had it set the other way else I would not have gotten all the work in the first place - thanks.

the linux machine doesn't seem to care about switching from the Rosetta and it always has the earlies deadline. since I have to suspend processing on the Rosetta I am unsure if the Einstein would switch or not. I will check the Rosetta forums. thanks

On my WinXP machine I run rosetta - I set the button to say No New Tasks as I wanted to run the tasks down to start another program in addition ro Rosetta. It keeps downloading tasks. I never used the No New Tasks buttons before as I always started with several and it never was needed.

On my Ubuntu (latest version) - I run Rosetta, LHC and Einstein. In preferences I tell it to switch every 60 minutes, but it will not switch. I used to run multiples on my old version of Ubuntu with the same settings and it worked.

Am I missing something with these two errors or do others have the same problem?
