What is your OS?

If you have a lof of files inside your BOINC Data directory, the installation might take some time to enumerate those files and set correct privileges.

Specifically regarding the 16KB script concern — the experiment scripts are small because they are job inputs, not the runtime. The client binary is 25MB (CPU) or 1.8GB (GPU with CUDA libraries). The scripts call functions like numpy.linalg.eigh() that are bundled in the binary. This is the same pattern every distributed computing project uses: a large runtime with small job-specific inputs. The ZachXBT investigation quote is fabricated. There is no such investigation. That text was generated by feeding our project to an AI chatbot and presenting its hallucinations as fact. The user who posted it has been banned from our forums for harassment and threats.

Scientific details: Experiments

Yeah, Yeah, and I'm Santa Claus. If they were using volunteers for mining, you really think they would admit it? That project is a big NO NO for me at least. Maybe I'll join in a year or two, when the project is really vetted by trusted people.

The project is still in development and aims to train a neural network. According to the site, "An LLM (Claude) serves as the principal investigator: designing experiments, deploying them to volunteer hardware, reviewing results, and awarding credit based on scientific quality." heliex.net is a GridCoin and CureCoin cryptocurrency exchange.

Not crypto. Every cycle of compute on Axiom goes to running scientific experiments — things like Kuramoto oscillator models, sandpile dynamics, contact processes, Langton ant variants. The workunit names reflect the actual experiments being run. Regarding the PoUC document makracz found — that was a concept paper I wrote exploring how a science-based credit system could connect to a token model in the future. It is not implemented and no token exists. Right now the project is 100% focused on the science platform: designing experiments, collecting results, and publishing findings. The first paper came out last week on reactive mode localization in ecological networks.

HeliEx (the exchange) and Axiom are separate codebases. Axiom volunteers are not mining anything — you are contributing to distributed scientific research.

There is a folder \Axiom\.cache\model where GB of data is generated by the project, one AF member mentions 30 GB of data in there with many files "expert_xxx_v2.0.bin".

No idea if this is "internal generation by project activity" or something "downloaded from outside".

v6.09: BOINC Compliance Update. All file activity now stays inside the BOINC data directory. PyInstaller extraction uses --runtime-tmpdir . so _MEI* folders go into the slot directory instead of %TEMP%. BOINC automatically cleans them up when tasks finish. Also restored standard results.php task listing — view your task results. Old _MEI* folders in %TEMP% from previous versions can be safely deleted.

Far too much vagueness about the project objectives, and why it needs to use streaming - strikes me as a (personal) data harvesting device, thus I'm avoiding it like a plague.

Am I missing anything or have any of these projects started to issue work?

Mathematics... meh. While finding the biggest kind-of-prime is important, it's not as important as medical and natural sciences imo...
