Authors and contributors should always be credited.

The documents are the work of the committee, the members of which are listed at: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/Process_proposals

If the documents are draft / approved etc, can this be immediately clear from the document?

I've added headers indicating this.

Publishing them as web pages is probably not conducive to change control.

They are wiki pages and thus change in them can be viewed.

I don't know what the "master" of the development work flow is maybe here http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/DevProcess

There is not an existing version of this document. The lack of it resulted in assumptions made about how to develop on github. This document serves to define the process in one place for everyone to work from a common understanding.

What is the process (now / future) for changes to them?

The process is documented in the governance document. Changes to governance document requires a vote of the PMC as outlined in the governance document. Changes to the development process require vote of the committers.

Sorry for the delay in responding, I wanted to get the exact configurations that they were using before I responded.

They are using version 7.6.33 of the client. They are using the following in their cc_config.xml file. Based on this discussion, should they remove the proxy_info section?

3) Message boards : Questions and problems : BOINC Autoproxy configuration (Message 77747)
Posted 4 May 2017 by Kevin Reed
Post:
Greetings,

We have a partner who is looking at deploying the client internally to support us. However, they use proxy autoconfiguration scripts in order to inform computer which proxies they should be using.

The BOINC client has code that appears to support this feature here: https://github.com/BOINC/boinc/blob/master/client/sysmon_win.cpp (see the windows_detect_autoproxy_settings method).

Our partner is running into some issues getting it to work and unfortunately we do not have an environment that uses autoproxies to test in order to figure the steps required. Is there someone who has had success getting this to work that would be willing to help solve this issue?

Thanks!

Post:
I found a temporary resolution which may end up having fixed it. I connected to
the Edinburgh University VPN and from there I managed to reach the WCG website and boinc managed to upload finished jobs and download new ones.

Furthermore, having now disconnecting from the VPN I can still access the website and boinc still seems to be communicating happily. Strange, but good? I'll update you if it stops working again.

Thanks for all your ideas,
Chris

Chris,

Can you attempt to access the website without going through your VPN. We engaged the support team for the bell.ca network and one user we were working with has reported success getting through in the past 12 hours. I want to confirm that your problem has been resolved as well. If you are still having issues can you provide a tracert with and without your VPN turned on?

Also - if you are still offline, please send an email to support@worldcommunitygrid.org because we would really like to get to the bottom of this issue.

thanks,
Kevin

Chris,

Can you go ahead and send an email to support@worldcommunitygrid.org and ask for Kevin Reed. In that email can you put in your public IP address? I need to search our webserver log files and see if we even see your requests reaching our servers.

thanks,
Kevin
