| 21) Message boards : BOINC Manager : Boinc manager not reporting details anymore after masOS upgrade from 12 to 13
Message 111645 Posted 23 Apr 2023 by JeromeC |
Thanks guys, there is obviously no urgency on this issue : boinc client is running fine and I do have BoincTasks Js to control the job on my mac - but I tend to prefer BM depending on what I am checking, and BTJs has a strange tendency to disconnect / reconnect to the client regularly... (but the easy multi-machine control + task history is a must from BT). I added a comment in the GitHub issue : the data usage tab and statistical tab have no data to display neither. |

Thanks for the answer, I did register to github and post my first issue, woohoo. https://github.com/BOINC/boinc/issues/5205 I hope I did it correctly, don't hesitate to suggest any correction. |

Hiya I have suddenly decided to upgrade my Intel iMac (one of the latest late 2020) from macOS 12 to latest 13.3.1. All is working perfect, except that Boinc Manager is only listing the tasks and their status, but not anymore the run time / % / remaining / deadline... BoincTasks Js is doing the job, though. I reinstalled boinc (7.20.4) but same behavior. Any idea ? Thx |

Things have gone downhill ever since SETI folded up. It's been many years that boinc's interest is fading out. Read this if you're not convinced. But as long as we are here, boinc is here :) And regarding the "3 projects hosted in Russia"... frankly... no comment. |

I'm not sure the positivity they mention is mainly coming from this topic ;) |

Well it seems PrimeGrid did the job : Intel ARC GPUs! Apple M1/M2 CPU and GPU!!! |

M1 Mac or M1 Ultra Mac are incapable of running any BOINC gpu application whether OpenCL or CUDA as M1* Mac does not support either graphic compute API. This is horrible to read. I assume it also applies to mac M2 ? and so any Mac in the future will never allow any GPGPU capacity ? |

"7.20.4 is an alpha version" ? I just installed it because it appears as the official stable version on the boinc download page ! Thanks for the release management... I'm using an Intel iMac so I see how see how it goes. |

The fault was Intego software but not NetBarrier, it was ContentBarrier against BoincMaster and/or BoincProject users. It's working now :) |

Hi impossible to use it on my iMac 27p intel late 2020 : all network communications are failing, with any project + boinc main + project manager (SAM). I downgrade to 7.16.21 : running again Upgrade again to 7.20.2 : same issue Reboot, upgrade macOS to 12.5.1 (I had 12.3.x I think, the upgrade was pending), no luck. I use security software Intego, I deactivated NetBarrier to test, made sure boinc is enabled, etc, no luck. I have to use 7.16.21... (first time this happens with all previous boinc updates I've done) Any idea ? |

Forget it, a reset did the job !!! I *never* think about this option... Someone finally suggested this on the TN-Grid forum :) |

Hi I am reporting a project connexion problem on NFS and TN-Grid since end of August (and not end of September) that only affect macOS client and that is still going on for me. "Failure when receiving data from the peer" is the error on both projects. Old tasks done in July before I went on holidays are still there, impossible to send back or to get any new work. It started end of August. I was using latest mac version is 7.16.19 (early August release, only talking about translations issues). I had to downgrade recently to 7.16.11 (for other reason) but it is the same. Thanks for your inputs. |

That's weird, I got 2 notifications, on 5 and 6 November, that some answers have been posted here... and I see no message after mine ?? |

| 38) Message boards : Questions and problems : Replacement of Cord for Mac VirtualBox applications
Message 103467 Posted 8 Mar 2021 by JeromeC |
I had not noticed this until recently because the "defunct old iMac" I'm referring to has been working well during 10 years (crunching for boinc H24/D7), so the old Cord was still doing the job, despite all system upgrades. Thank you for making the subject visible again, I read the 2017 issue history with interest. Hopefully some solution can be implemented. At my end I could not manage to run that FreeRDP RDP client that I "apparently installed", I mean outside of boinc. I remain skeptical with the Homebrew installation output... |

| 40) Message boards : Questions and problems : Replacement of Cord for Mac VirtualBox applications
Message 103112 Posted 21 Feb 2021 by JeromeC |
Hi all on my defunct old iMac I used to (happily) use Cord to display the console for VB applications. In my new iMac I realized that Cord was "terminated" and they suggest to use FreeRDP instead. I "think" I actually managed to install that FreeRDP with Homebrew, but boinc seems to have "hardcoded" the fact that it needed Cord when you try to display the console (clicking the console button will fail and display a error message about Cord missing). I apparently now have a (command line only ?) "xfreerdp" application installed, but I have no clue on how this could potentially replace Cord for boinc. Thanks for your help and suggestions. |
