1) Message boards : Questions and problems : BOINC manager exits when window is closed (Message 50419)

I see.
You're saying that windows does that to every program, but I don't see this behavior in any other program other than BOINC manager: QIP, Google Talk, Steam, Lingvo, AMD Control Center - that's all of my programs with notification area presence and none of them exit completely when I close their minimized main window.
I prefer to keep manager in tray when tasks are running due to simple analogy: if it's there - it is running, if it's not - it's not. I don't want to open task manager to see if it's still there.

- launch boinc manager
- minimize it by clicking on taskbar button
- right click on boinc manager in taskbar and choose close window
- boinc manager exits completely along with computation
However if you skip second step, it does not exit completely and stays in tray

Finally reproduced this annoying inconsistent problem. This exits BOINC when I don't want it to exit, and just want to manager to go away in tray.

3) Message boards : Questions and problems : BOINC ignores high priority project (Message 48406)

Post:
I have two projects with 100/15 resource share. I've set BOINC not to keep buffer of tasks for projects.
According to event log, project with 100 resource share is completely ignored by BOINC. This is what it does on its internal timer, and the same thing happens when I try to Update the project.

30/03/2013 02:04:20 | LHC@home 1.0 | Sending scheduler request: Requested by project.
30/03/2013 02:04:20 | LHC@home 1.0 | Not reporting or requesting tasks
30/03/2013 02:04:22 | LHC@home 1.0 | Scheduler request completed

How do I force it to at least attempt to fetch tasks for the project? It completely ignores me.

Does anyone know if there's any development anywhere of Win8 store app to display user stats on a live tile? That would be cool
As of now, "boinc" search query on the store only returns one app that looks educational.

6) Message boards : Questions and problems : Processor does not report SSE3 (Message 45101)

Post:
My home computer's processor does not report that it can do SSE3. Instead it reports that it can do SSE 1, 2 and 4a.
This causes LHC@Home to not assign SSE3 tasks to this machine. My Intel work machine successfully gets them, so the problem must be in BOINC.

Can I expect release of stable BOINC version for Windows 8 before Windows 8 release in august/october?
Any ETA on this?

In Windows there's also a Memory priority and I/O priority. I used an online guide to get those lowered for uTorrent process, and it seems the program become less noticeable when ran in the background.
Screenshot of BOINC spawned process and my adjusted uTorrent process

I just wanted to ask, what is a reason not to apply these low priorities to BOINC processes too?

BOINC always loads additional data, despite I set Additional work buffer to 0.00 days. Screenshot: http://i54.tinypic.com/euge4l.jpg
I only occasionally run BOINC on this PC, sometimes tasks expire, so I believe it would be nice if it have not wasted additional tasks.
I have this problem only on this box, my other two VM are not affected and only load tasks to compute right now. I wonder if this is connected to number of cores, since my box has 4 cores and other two 2 cores?

I also wonder if there's any option like "compute 10 tasks and stop"?

I frequently close and reopen BOINC Manager to give games and other CPU-hungry stuff more memory and CPU. I know that there is enough settings to automate this, I just got used to i these actions.
Thank you for your help.

6) "Run only one instance". I am very puzzled why it is not there in the first place, or why I cannot find it.

Not a clue what you mean with this one, though. Run only one instance of what? The client?

I meant BOINC Manager. If accidentally I run it twice, I get two Managers with two tray icons, both display correct infromation. But if I close one of them, it takes down BOINC clients with it, so second Manager remains idle with red circle. To actually start computing I have to close second one too and carefully reopen only one instance of BOINC Manager.

My wishlist:
1) "Start minimized". Lack of this setting is annoying because...
2) ...when I start manager, it loads, and hangs there with "Communicating with BOINC client" for some time. During this time I cannot close popup or main window. As I use maximized window of manager, it prevents me from minimizing the window AND using other programs for this small amount of time.
3) BOINC Manager never remembers its maximized window state after exiting.
4) It would be nice if About dialog showed which version, x86 or x64 of manager I have installed
5) Tooltip of tray icon always lies about percentage when main window is closed, because Manager updates percentage status only when it is open
6) "Run only one instance". I am very puzzled why it is not there in the first place, or why I cannot find it.
