Thanks folks,
it's the cookies, and FF, of course. Sometimes I'd like to smack myself ...
2) Message boards : Web interfaces : Cannot login to Einstein account

I am posting this here because I cannot access any Einstein information:
Need to change my computing preferences and therefore login to my account. However, it does not recognize my credentials. "Forgot Password" email link does not work, only redirects back to login windows. Login with "authenticator" derived from Einstein account info XML stored on my PC also only redirects to the login window.

That is, no way to login to my account. Any help anyone?
3) Message boards : Questions and problems : BOINC client 7.2.33 woes

I recently posted this to the client forum but got no response in a week yet:

I installed BOINC 7.2.33 on a new Win7-X64 machine. In all accounts but admin the boinc.exe client would repeatedly crash as is was trying to run with user credentials and boincmgr could not attach. I could not find out why non-admin accounts could not run it. Finally resorted to a service thread type installation with BOINC's own unprivileged account forgoing the use of the GPU. But then the client.exe would run without issues and boincmgr could be used from all accounts.

For any insights I would be grateful.

I am still having the same problem with diagnostic error of the screen saver for non-admin users as with the previous 6.12.28 release for Windows (see also message 38117). Reverting back to the 6.10.60 release as that is the last one that was working for me without errors.

I now reverted back to 6.10.60 after several clean installations of both this older version and the newer 6.12.26. The newer always shows this problem, the older never.
And no, I am not using the GPU.

For me the symptoms with any non-admin account are like this:
1) after logon as soon as boinctray attaches the error message appears
2) if I call up the screensaver prefs the error message appears
3) if I change the screensaver prefs the error message appears
4) if I save the screensaver prefs the error message appears
5) BOINC is set to start after 1min idle time and I see it running in the manager, screensaver is set to kick in after 2 or more minutes of idle time the error message appears as soon as that time is up, but screensaver does not come on, only the message box stays. Of course as soon as you click OK in it the screensaver does not come on anyway.

But as I said before, it used to work on the older versions of manager. I will try re-installation.

I essentially got the same problem on Win 7 SP 1, see Message 37931. I updated from boincmgr 6.10.60 to 6.12.26 and now the issue is there. Used to work fine with the older version. I selected the option to let all users manage BOINC during install, but I do not know what you mean by "run" on that account.

OK, done that and everything works now. Except: I am getting an empty Windows 7 message box titled "BOINC screensaver diagnostic error" whenever the screensaver tries to start on all the non-admin user accounts.

When updating to the newest client 6.12.26 I forgot to allow all users access to boincmgr. Now, how do I fix that short of reinstalling completely from scratch? If I run the installer again, it will give me repair or remove options but the repair does not offer to set permission for all users again.

12) Message boards : Questions and problems : BOINC manager does not switch applications
Message 37000

I recently changed from W2K where BOINC manager 6.10.58 was great to Win7. Here, BOINC manager 6.10.58 is working generally fine except for one point: In the general manager preferences I set it to "switch between applications every 30mins" but it does not do that. I have a SETI and an Einstein work package in the task list but only the SETI will be active if I resume both of them. The deadline for the SETI task is mid April, the Einstein beginning of March. Therefore I would assume that Einstein should also be worked upon but it doesn't.
Any clues where to check?

I thought I had already replied yesterday. The problem was the newly created boinc_master user with BOINC 6.10.58. This user did not exist with BOINC 5 and I set my OS to give new users a disk quota of only 300MB by default. After increasing the quota manually everything works fine.

Thanks to everybody for your help attempts.

Done that already. Then max disk usage drops down even further, to something like 0.26GB (90%, and "at least 1GB")or less depending on the actual preference settings.

OK,
HD is 150GB with the primary OS partition of 50GB capacity containing the BOINC data directory and currently 32GB empty, another data partition with capacity of 100GB and 34 GB empty.
The disk preference BOINC settings are
"use at most 10GB"
"leave at least 2GB free"
"use at most 100% of total disk space"
