1) Message boards : News : BOINC 6.10.56 released (Message 33174) Posted 1 Jun 2010 by pa3fge Post: After installing the 64 bits edition of BOINC version 6.10.56, I found suspicious network traffic started to happen. Using the Windows 7 resource monitor I found two boinc processes that started to have a connection to www.007guard.com In the host list I have an entry that redirects 007guard.com to localhost which should prevent the system from connecting. When the resource monitor is active and you can see boinc becoming active, at first a connection is made to localhost. But after a few seconds, it is replaced and a connection to www.007guard.com is made. To make sure I have deinstalled boinc and deleted all of its directories. Then performed a full system scan with McAfee, Spybot SD, and Ad-Aware, and no problem was found. Then I downloaded and installed a fresh copy of the boinc software version 6.10.56. Within a few minutes a connection to www.007guard.com was created. I have not seen this behavior with previous versions of boinc. Does the software on the boinc download site contain a new virus not found yet by any scanner?
