BOINC manager is not able to connect to BOINC client
(Message 37009)
Posted 25 Feb 2011 by David Post: I've just started having the same problems (running windows vista). Windows Task Manager reports that the BOINC tasks are still running even though BOINC Manager has a blank screen (and "connecting to localhost" in lower right hand). Have tried re-installing BOINC, but, still no difference. Occasionally after hard restarts the details are displayed for a short period of time (haven't put a stopwatch to it yet...). All this started happening after loading pictures from a P&O Cruises USB stick (wife and daughter went on cruise and had photos taken and were given the photos on a USB stick). Anyone else have this issue ?? Cheers, dk |

I'm getting dumped on
(Message 34521)
Posted 5 Sep 2010 by David Post: Hi, I don't remember having updated BOINC since I installed it back in Feb of this year (current installed version being 6.10.18), though I did bump up the Additional Work Buffer to 5.0. So I think that may have been it. I've dropped it back down to 2.0, so I'll see how I go. Cheers, David |

I'm getting dumped on
(Message 34519)
Posted 4 Sep 2010 by David Post: Hi, Um, I seem to be getting dumped on with WU's. Last night Orbit, Leiden & BoincSIMAP dumped like 40 WU's on me all due by at latest 11 Sept 2010. I kind of aborted them and funny things started happening with my PC and I eventually ended up rebooting this morning. Orbit then dumped another 10 or 11 WU's on me again this morning and now Einstein has dumped 8 WU's on me. This is highly irregular. Has something changed recently to force excessive WU's down from multiple differetn sites ?? Cheers, David |

Question about downloading
(Message 33419)
Posted 17 Jun 2010 by David Post: Hi, I have the Network Usage Allowed on my BOINC manager set to between 00:10 & 11:50. That is supposed to be my local time, isn't it ?? Last night at 7:42 (GMT+10), 3 different projects (Leiden, Milkyway & Spinhenge) downloaded new WU's during a period that they shouldn't have ?? I also noticed in the log that several other projects had uploaded WU just prior to that ?? I haven't noticed this happening previously and hope it doesn't happen too frequently as I need my Peak Period broadband for work. I don't mind donating my "Off-Peak" broadband. Cheers, David |
